School Suspension Monitor

Overview

Title: In-School Suspension Monitor and Student Mentor

Job Summary: To provide students with a student mentor to provide a structured environment and individualized support to students who did not meet behavior expectations and assigned an in-school suspension.

• Serves as a direct resource to an assigned group of students
• Set clear behavior expectations during in-school suspension
• Monitor student behavior during assigned ISS
• Meet 1:1 with students during ISS to make a plan for the successful return to school after serving assigned ISS
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure students are on track for completing assignments during ISS
• Communicate with administration about students engagement during ISS
• Collaborate with social worker, school counselors and administrators to seek out additional resources as needed.

• Establish supportive and trusting relationships with students supervised
• Maintain high expectations for behavior and work completion in ISS
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students and staff
• Work with diverse student groups
• Maintain confidentiality with regard to students and staff
• Able to carry out written and oral instructions
• Proficient in computer use and Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and/or Google Docs, Sheets)
• Effective writing and verbal communication skills

Education: Bachelor's preferred

FSLA Non-Exempt

Hours: 7:15 am - 2:00 pm
