Avidd Community Services of New Jersey, Inc proudly serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Bergen, Morris, Warren and Somerset Counties. Our residential programs are homes that are settled in various communities throughout suburban Northern New Jersey. Each home is custom suited to its residents, their abilities, needs and personalities. Avidd strongly encourages fostering independence and teaching life skills.
What Are We Looking For?We are currently hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) for our residential group homes in the Morris County area. Home Locations:
Randolph, Morris Plains, Mt Tabor, Denville, Lake Hiawatha, Boonton, Long Valley and Lake Hopatcong.
- Treat individuals with dignity and respect while promoting a supportive atmosphere.
- Work as part of a collaborative team alongside residential management and peers to create a positive and safe environment.
- Provide hands-on support, assisting with daily living skills, including personal care, cooking, cleaning and laundry.
- Encourage and support our individuals with independent living skills.
- Administer medications taken by individuals.
- Transport, assist and advocate on medical appointments.
- Supervise self-help skills of individuals, if necessary, provide least intrusive assistance.
- Initiate and follow through on leisure time activities.
- Assist individuals in nutritional food preparation.
- Supervise individuals with proper selection and care of clothing.
- Assist in maintaining the overall appearance and cleanliness of the home.
- Complete accurate documentation in the Electronic Health Record (Therap) on every shift.
- Provide necessary First Aid and CPR to individuals in need.
- Applicants must be caring, responsible, and reliable.
- Must be passionate about working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to promote independence and well-being.
- Must be able to successfully undergo required pre-employment drug screening, fingerprinting, Child Abuse Record Information (CARI) application, Central Registry background check, physical/PPD testing, training and must provide professional references.
- Applicants must have a minimum of a high school diploma/GED and a valid driver's license (in good standing and not in probationary status).
