Production Manager, Welder / MIG/MAG/TIG
The Welding Supervisor will do a variety of tasks in the Manufacturing Facility. They will work to coordinate and complete needed tasks daily as requested and set forth by the Manufacturing Manager. They will oversee all plant production, materials, equipment and tools to ensure efficiency is maintained and projects remain on schedule. The primary role is taking on planning, organizational and productive activities, shop floor management, and to manage and lead the welding department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe following represents a list of essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned or re-assigned as the Manufacturing Facility expands.
- Ensure shop orders are completed in proper sequence and work is properly assigned based on individual skills.
- Conduct meetings with welding personnel to ensure work is properly delegated.
- See that welding workers’ efficiency/time management is in line with planning.
- Read and interpret shop orders and blueprints or instructions to assist with weldments.
- Locate materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on pick lists for welding department.
- Utilize forklift, pallet jacks, and overhead crane to move raw materials, parts, equipment, and shipments as directed.
- Ensure only authorized welding personnel are operating manufacturing equipment. (cranes, lifts, rigging, etc..)
- Ensure welding employees are using best practices when operating manufacutring equipment. (Cranes, lifts, saws, etc…)
- Oversee resolution of general manufacturing/weldingissues as they arise.
- Troubleshoot material issues as they arise. (Locate missing materials, etc..)
- Communicate project status updates regularly with Production Planner and Assembly Supervisor.
- Closely monitors the use of inventory, and that only authorized personnel are removing inventory.
- Reviews CRP (Capacity Resource Planning) and prepares shop orders based on dates.
- Reviews MRP (Material Resource Planning) to anticipate and notify purchasing of material shortages.
- Support welding personnel concerning material handling on-demand.
- See that material handling guidelines are being followed to preserve the surfaces of materials.
- Monitors the status of all welding related shop floor tasks.
- Control quality of department weldments.
- Maintains manufacturing equipment by completing pre-use inspections; making operator repairs, and scheuduling inspections/repairs as needed. (Welding machines, tools, cranes, compressors, etc..)
- Develop and manage testing procedures for both PQRs and WPSs in alignment with industry standards and applicable code.
- Teach and execute most efficient methods of distortion control and straightening techniques for stainless steel weldments.
- Keep track of welding comsumables and their proper usage and placing orders when required.
- Explain metal properties to welders to ensure correct utilization of techniques and distortion control.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Work as part of the team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimize results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards.
- Provide technical expertise to the team.
- Meet welding demands of a fast‑paced production environment.
- Responsible for compliance with safety and housekeeping requirements.
- Provide training, support direction and guidance to department personnel in order to continually develop their work habits and skills.
- Supervision of assigned employees
