As an Application Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical support and expertise to our customers, ensuring the successful implementation and optimization of HYDAC products and solutions to ultimately drive new business growth. You will work closely with the sales, development, and customer support teams to lead and support existing and new business growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Drive application engineering discussions with our customer/channel partners in collaboration with HYDAC sales teams.
- Provide technical support to HYDAC solutions and products.
- Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer requirements and provide technical support during the pre‑sales process.
- Understand application requirements and develop system/product requirements and help in the design and selection product solutions accordingly.
- Evaluate application specifications to ensure compliance with internal technical and commercial requirements.
- Develop and deliver product application demonstrations, presentations, and technical proposals with HYDAC value proposition to customers.
- Assist customers with the selection, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of our products and solutions in the application.
- Provide ongoing technical support and training to customers, ensuring they maximize the value of our solutions.
- Work with the development and lab teams to identify and resolve product issues and support product performance testing.
- Collaborates with US and German HYDAC entities to develop HYDAC solutions.
- Stay up to date with industry/application trends and advancements to provide informed recommendations to customers and internal teams.
- Training of customers, channel partners and internal HYDAC team members on products and solutions.
- Document customer interactions, technical issues, and solutions in our supporting databases.
- Coordinate with Operations to ensure quoted product is viable.
- Relationship building with customer engineers and engineering management teams.
- Actively participate in design reviews with other engineering, manufacturing, sales, and materials personnel to ensure that design meets all requirements.
- Supports System and Design FMEAs.
- Supports Solution and Product concept, design and launch reviews.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
- Execute projects assigned by Product Managers.
- Design new components and assemblies to meet specific performance needs.
- Compile and analyze data to support engineering decisions.
- Follow internal and customer APQP processes for product development.
- Develop product test specifications based on performance criteria.
- Perform engineering calculations for stress, solte, and thermal performance.
- Manage product and component qualification, including verification testing.
- Initiate design improvements for existing components and assemblies.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
- Willingness to travel 20‑40% of time to customer sites as needed.
