Overview
Primarily responsible for local deliveries and occasionally overnight deliveries of finished steel coils. Note:
The following compensation and schedule are provided as part of the role: $28.66 – 37.64 per hour; M-F 6:00 a.m.
- 2:30 p.m.
- Delivers items by identifying destinations; establishing route; and maintaining scheduled guidelines.
- Inspects load prior to departure to ensure all cargo is secured in the truck or trailer for safe and efficient travel.
- Maintains safe operation of vehicle through safe driving practices.
- Maintains delivery, truck, and driving records by obtaining receipt acknowledgments; recording tracking information; completing driver log and truck performance forms.
- Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Must have a valid Class A CDL license with a minimum of three (3) years’ CDL experience and must meet all DOT requirements.
- Graduation from High School or GED equivalent, three (3) years of relevant experience, or any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform essential duties and responsibilities.
- Flatbed and 48 and 53 trailer experience required.
- Steel hauling and delivery experience desired.
- Must have good driving record.
- Applicants must provide a current copy of Motor Vehicle Report when called for an interview.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Ability to pass background screening and drug test.
- Language
Skills:
Ability to write and read routine reports or job orders. Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees within the organization. Ability to understand, speak and read English. - Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. - Reasoning Ability:
Ability to interpret documents and instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Ability to organize and prioritize job projects and requirements.
- Attendance is required Monday through Friday within normal business hours as established by the Warehouse Supervisor. Employee may be required to work overtime.
- Physical Demands:
Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 75 pounds. Specific visual abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- Exposure to hot and cold temperatures; work may be inside, outside, and on elevated balconies.
