Overview
The Body Shop Porter plays a vital role in supporting the collision center by coordinating vehicle movement, assisting with intake and delivery, and maintaining an organized, high-quality repair environment. This position ensures smooth shop flow, supports quality control processes, and contributes to on-time vehicle delivery and customer satisfaction.
Duties And Responsibilities- Greet customers and tow drivers professionally; assist with vehicle drop-offs and direct them to the appropriate location or contact.
- Perform walk-arounds, noting damage, mileage, VIN, and tag numbers, including for towed vehicles.
- Move vehicles between the collision shop, service drive, and lot to maintain optimal traffic flow.
- Support quality control test drive process by retrieving, test driving, and documenting vehicles post-repair.
- Communicate effectively with estimators and technicians on vehicles needing minor rework or follow-up to reduce cycle time and support delivery deadlines.
- Pick up and return loaner vehicles from off-site dealerships as needed.
- Assist with transporting total loss vehicles and coordinating with tow drivers to ensure safe vehicle removal without damage to surrounding property.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the shop, lot, and work areas.
- Install protective materials in vehicles (seat covers, floor mats, wheel covers, etc.).
- Assist with miscellaneous tasks such as shop maintenance, clean-up, and vehicle prep to support overall team efficiency.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and around active shop environments.
- Strong communication skills and a professional, customer-first attitude.
- Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently and follow instructions.
- Must be authorized to work in the USA.
- Must be willing to undergo pre-employment screenings including drug testing, background check, and MVR.
- Familiarity with conducting walk-arounds, recording damage, and documenting vehicle intake details.
- Experience driving both automatic and manual transmission vehicles preferred.
- Experience supporting loaner vehicle logistics and off-site vehicle coordination.
