AI Engineer

Overview

Vorto is on a mission to improve America’s Supply Chain efficiency and sustainability. Vorto uses AI technology to reduce empty miles and idle time created in matching shippers and truckers, reducing carbon emissions, making products more affordable, and improving the lives and earnings of approximately 3.5 million truck drivers in America.

We are looking for an AI Engineer who thrives in one of the most demanding environments in technology: legacy supply chains, enterprise customers, startup speed, and chaotic real-world operations. At Vorto, AI Engineers are builder-owners who transform ambiguous, messy operational problems into intelligent, automated systems that materially change how physical goods move across America.

• Fine-tune large language models (LLMs) including LLaMA, Mistral, and Falcon on proprietary datasets to enhance performance in automation and customer support workflows.
• Design and deploy AI agents capable of task execution and decision-making, leveraging retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to improve accuracy and relevance.
• Integrate embedding databases (Chroma
  
  DB, FAISS) and graph-based retrieval (G‑RAG) using Neo4j to boost knowledge retrieval efficiency and contextual understanding.
• Optimize and deploy models using vLLM, Tensor
  
  RT, and Deep Speed for low‑latency, scalable inference on Google Cloud and Kubernetes‑based infrastructure.
• Solve complex problems using mechanistic and statistical approaches.
• Develop predictive models for commodity demand, supply forecasting, ETA predictions, and delay detection.
• Optimize logistics simulations and market algorithms to improve operational efficiency.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Experience with ML frameworks such as Tensor Flow, PyTorch, or Keras.
• Solid background in algorithms, optimization, neural networks, and reinforcement learning.
• Proven track record of independently delivering complex engineering and ML projects.
• Familiarity with path and function optimization methods including linear programming and simulation-based search techniques.
• Advanced degree (MS/PhD preferred) in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Applied Math, or Engineering.
