The Pauline Robinson Branch Library is located in Northeast Park Hill. We are neighbors to the Hiawatha Davis, Jr., Recreation Center and Vickers Boys and Girls Club. We have a long running book club for adults, after school programs and storytime. We are a full-service library committed to offering services that demonstrate the library’s values of Welcoming, Curiosity, Connection, Equity, and Stewardship in action.

DPL is hiring a Security Officer to work at the Pauline Robinson Branch Library to help create positive experiences for library customers by maintaining a safe and secure environment for customers and staff. You'll receive on the job training to develop skills and abilities related to the position, including certification in First Aid, CPR and in the usage of an AED, Narcan usage, defensive tactics and verbal de-escalation training.

• Solid customer service background and is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment to everyone who uses the library.
• Knowledge of safety and security in a public setting.
• Knowledge of emergency procedures, safety hazards and how to delegate to a team.
• Ability to use workplace technology effectively including email, calendar, internet, databases, video conferencing, and other software.
• Ability to thrive working in a diverse environment with constant public contact.
• Ability to creatively solve problems, and handle stressful situations in a positive manner, including situations involving trauma, mental illness, and substance abuse.
• Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, positive attitude, cultural sensitivity and sense of humor in working with customers of all ages and backgrounds, coworkers and community.
