This is a short‑term position. While it does not include medical or dental benefits, the role does offer paid sick time and eligibility to participate in our 403(b) retirement plan.
Job OverviewThe Employment and RCA Specialist assists newly arrived refugees and other qualified immigrants to attain self-sufficiency through employment by guiding them through employment preparation, coordinating job placements, and providing other career advancement services. Additionally, the specialist screens potential participants for admission into the Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA) Program, evaluates monthly eligibility, determines benefits, documents eligibility review, closes cases, and completes regular file inspections of eligibility materials.
MajorResponsibilities Employment
- Conduct an employability assessment and provide program orientation to clients eligible for employment services. Develop comprehensive employment plans and budget strategies for each employable adult. Provide job readiness and job search coaching and connect clients with job opportunities.
- Develop and cultivate long-term relationships with area employers and staffing agencies to identify appropriate employment opportunities for clients.
- Assist clients and employers as necessary with post-placement issues and continuing employment needs.
- Monitor client job performance, wage levels, and related metrics.
- Detail each client interaction in accordance with program requirements. Input client information into database and assist with tracking and reporting as needed.
- Collaborate effectively with coworkers and partner organizations. Build and maintain relationships with area service providers for the benefit of clients.
- Use personal, insured vehicle and/or public transportation (where available) to travel and transport clients and materials as needed throughout the service delivery area.
- May train and lead the activities of support staff, volunteers, and interns.

- Conduct comprehensive assessment of eligibility for families seeking to participate in the Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA).
- Complete enrollments into the RCA program for eligible clients.
- Conduct monthly meetings with all families enrolled in the program to confirm facts upon which eligibility determination is made, and their comprehension of the rules of the program.
- Conduct employability assessment to determine whether clients are mandatory or non‑mandatory for employment.
- Request monthly cash assistance and vendor payment checks after reviewing each RCA participant's ongoing eligibility, per IRC and CRSP (Colorado Refugee Services Program) guidelines.
- Distribute monthly checks or USIO payments to clients as outlined in IRC finance guidelines.
- Maintain comprehensive, up-to-date case note services log containing detailed information about service provision. Maintain copies of all appropriate documents, forms and other data in the client case file.
- Coordinate with other direct service staff to ensure up-to-date information on any changes of case status including employment, loss of employment, SSI benefits, birth of a child, etc. are well documented in the case file and reflected in any required benefit changes.
- Be the primary point of contact with IRC staff on any questions on how to appropriately apply policy to unique circumstances.
