DescriptionAs a Residential Coordinator at Irving Street Women’s Residence (Irving), you will be directly responsible for managing the facility during your shift, providing services to program participants, and assisting residents in maintaining housing or securing community housing upon exit.
Job SummaryThis HUD‑identified Safe Haven serves up to 25 unaccompanied women, transgender, and gender‑neutral individuals experiencing chronic homelessness with at least a mental health disability. The role involves Housing First Trauma‑Informed Care, Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, Crisis De‑escalation, and Critical Time Intervention services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Ensure the resident’s voice is heard and, when appropriate, becomes a prominent part of programming.
- Possess in‑depth knowledge of program requirements, referral processes, allowable costs, practice standards, and HUD permanent supportive housing standards within a Safe Haven model.
- Demonstrate knowledge of resident‑specific resources and a passion for serving the population and the ability to contribute to program‑wide objectives.
- Develop, direct, and monitor the implementation of quality Housing First/CTI‑based supportive services tied to housing stability.
- Coordinate with the team to deliver services most appropriate to resident needs and assist in relocating residents and securing emergency housing.
- Clearly document all client interactions and required eligibility and demographic information and maintain chronic homelessness and disability documentation.
- Maintain compliance with grant‑guideline reporting and data entry systems, including Service Point and HMIS.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all information, participate effectively across teams, and conduct duties professionally.
- Maintain physical and emotional safety of all residents, manage the milieu, de‑escalate conflict, and contact emergency personnel as needed.
- Serve as a resource for team problem‑solving, stay abreast of current field issues and theories.
- Oversee general house maintenance, cooking, linen provision, building walk‑throughs, rule enforcement, chore completion, alarms, and more.
- Coordinate holiday projects and other special projects as assigned.
- Assist in supervising volunteers during shifts.
- Perform regular front‑desk duties: answer phones, take messages, accept donations, handle mail, and distribute bus passes.
- Mentor junior personnel and train staff members as needed.
- Participate in coverage on‑call rotation, staff scheduling, and attend staff meetings and training.
- Perform all responsibilities in accordance with the Social Work Code of Ethics, maintain predictable attendance, and perform all other duties as assigned.
- Part‑time evening (12 hrs) position Thurs, Fri, Sat 6 pm–10 pm
- Part‑time overnight (19 hrs) position Thurs, Fri 10 pm–8 am
Coordinators are typically single‑staffed during their shift and are expected to remain on site unless coverage arrangements are established. Full‑time staff are required to work scheduled shifts regardless of holidays or inclement weather and to participate in a rotating on‑call schedule. An $100 stipend is provided for on‑call periods plus overtime compensation.
RequirementsMinimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent human services experience.
- One year of direct human service experience.
- Willingness to obtain and maintain First Aid, AED, and CPR certifications.
- Criminal and civil background checks within 30 days of hire.
- Good organizational and planning skills; works well as part of a team.
