The Residential program focuses on meeting the individualized needs of children and adolescents. The Residential Treatment program provides a lower student-to-staff ratio that integrates social, emotional, behavioral, and life skills learning and growth.
Our goal is to create a living environment where children with intellectual and developmental delays can feel safe and supported to heal and develop the necessary skills to succeed in a less restrictive home placement.
Tennyson Center is seeking a qualified leader to provide direct supervision and support to residential Youth Treatment Counselors (YTCs). The Lead YTC is responsible for providing weekly supervision, mentoring, modeling, and training to Youth Treatment Counselors in their daily responsibilities.
Responsibilities- Provides weekly individual supervision and group supervision, and daily support to Youth Treatment Counselors
- Provides hands on support and training of YTC duties, including but not limited to critical incident reports, daily logs, SWISS data, daily notes, and headcount sheets
- Participation in inter-departmental meetings, including child team meetings, weekly debriefs, staff trainings and team building activities
- Works collaboratively with other department leaders to ensure consistency and continuity between education and cottage milieus, and clinical service plans
- Responsible for ensuring social, emotional, and behavioral interventions are being provided in a trauma sensitive and developmentally appropriate manner
- Support of training opportunities provided to YTCs, including but not limited to, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), Attachment, Regulation and Competency (ARC) Framework, and Motivational Interviewing
- Will support the interviewing and hiring of YTCs for the residential program
- Be current in QMAP qualification and agency protocols related to medication administration
- Participates in organizational trainings and meetings as required
- Other duties as assigned
- Must be able to lift 25/50 lbs. or more
- Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures, including kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing, for extended periods of time
- Must be able to perform or assist with physical interventions, either restraints or containments
- Full time in person work required
- Travel will utilize company vehicles to transport clients to community activities
- Most of the work will occur on our campus in the residential cottages as well as in the greater community
- Casual work attire
- BA degree in a Human Services field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
- Related experience in a residential setting with children K-12 with intellectual developmental disabilities, emotional disabilities and other learning challenges
- Supervisory experience
- All candidates must have (or qualify to obtain) a current Colorado driver's license
- Ability to be Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) trained and maintain TCI refreshers over the course of employment
- Must have a working understanding of trauma informed care principles
- Must have or be able to obtain QMAP certification
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Strong organizational, management and collaboration skills required
