The Parent & Family Support Coach is a new full-time (can also be part-time), hourly position designed to provide wraparound support to caregivers navigating complex life challenges such as housing instability, intergenerational trauma, and barriers to accessing behavioral health care. This role bridges the gap between family systems, community resources, and SOAR’s youth programming by empowering caregivers to build stability, strengthen relationships, and engage actively in their youth’s care plan.

Description About SOAR (Seeing Our Adolescents Rise):

SOAR is a community-based, trauma-informed organization dedicated to empowering multicultural and marginalized youth ages 7–19. Through innovative programming that blends coaching, mentorship, education support, community service, adventure therapy, and engaging activities, SOAR meets the unique needs of young people navigating complex life circumstances. The majority of youth served by SOAR have current or past involvement with the juvenile justice system.

-Recognizing that transportation is often a major barrier to accessing services for our population, SOAR staff meet with clients in their homes, schools, and other social milieus. Staff provide transportation to SOAR and community events with state mileage reimbursement rates.

The Parent & Family Support Coach will cultivate trust and partnership with parents/guardians through one-on-one coaching, facilitated family sessions, and psycho educational workshops on topics like trauma, communication, and youth development. In collaboration with SOAR clinicians and coaches, this role helps families create sustainable change and strengthen the home environment as a foundation for youth healing and recovery.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Family Engagement

  • Build and maintain trusting, trauma-informed relationships with caregivers and families.
  • Facilitate individual and group coaching sessions focused on family wellness, communication, and parenting strategies.
  • Collaborate with SOAR clinicians to coordinate therapist-led family or parent-focused sessions as needed.
  • Support families in developing and maintaining goals that align with youth treatment or coaching plans.

Resource Coordination & Advocacy

  • Connect families to essential community resources including housing, food security, mental health care, and education support.
  • Serve as a liaison between SOAR, partner agencies, and community systems to reduce barriers and improve family engagement.
  • Provide ongoing case management and follow-up to ensure families are supported in achieving stability.

Education & Empowerment

  • Design and facilitate psycho educational workshops for parents/caregivers on topics such as trauma-informed parenting, adolescent development, and stress management.
  • Promote strengths-based approaches and cultural responsiveness in all family interactions.
  • Encourage parent involvement in SOAR programs, events, and support networks.
  • Collaborate closely with clinicians, coaches, and administrative staff to ensure coordinated service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential documentation in accordance with SOAR policies and HIPAA compliance.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and professional development opportunities.
Working conditions

Special working conditions cover a range of circumstances from occasional evening and weekend work, working with challenging clients, and driving around the Denver Metro area as needed for client caseload. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to effectively manage their own schedule and complete all job responsibilities within a timely manner. Candidates have the opportunity to build to a full-time schedule caseload.
