Job DescriptionCelnet is seeking an experienced Data Center Rack & Stack Technician responsible for installation, cabling, and testing of network and server infrastructure within data center environments.
The technician will perform structured cabling (Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A), fiber optic installation, rack and stack of equipment, and certification testing while adhering to industry standards such as TIA/EIA and TIA-942.
This role requires strong hands‑on experience in structured cabling, fiber management, and troubleshooting within mission‑critical facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Perform rack and stack installation of servers, switches, routers, PDUs, and related hardware
- Install, route, terminate, and label Cat5e / Cat6 / Cat6A copper cabling
- Install, terminate, splice (if required), and test fiber optic cables (SMF/MMF)
- Dress and manage cables according to structured cabling best practices
- Install patch panels, ladder racks, cable trays, and cable management systems
- Perform cable testing using Fluke testers (DSX series or equivalent)
- Conduct fiber testing using OTDR and power meter tools
- Generate cable certification reports and ensure all links meet required standards
- Maintain proper labeling and documentation per ANSI/TIA standards
- Work in live data center environments following safety and change management procedures
- Troubleshoot copper and fiber connectivity issues
- Support decommissioning and relocation of network equipment
- Follow ESD, grounding, and bonding compliance requirements
- 2+ years of experience in data center rack & stack and structured cabling
- Experience installing and testing Cat6 / Cat6A copper cabling
- Experience terminating LC, SC, and MPO fiber connectors
- Hands‑on experience with Fluke certification testers
- Ability to read rack elevation diagrams and cable schedules
- Knowledge of structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI)
- Understanding of Single‑Mode and Multi‑Mode fiber
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in raised‑floor environments
- Basic understanding of network devices (switches, routers, firewalls)
