Position: Vaultman Cableman -Denver, CO

We anticipate the need for one or more Vaultman/Electric Cableman in Denver, CO. The starting rate pay for this position is $62.81 hourly.

* This is concurrent with DOL Cable Mechanic Classification.

This position will be responsible for construction, maintenance, and emergency repairs of underground network systems and will perform underground construction and maintenance work on company assets, maintain vaults, pulling cable and splicing conductors as needed.

Candidate must be self-motivated, work well with others, possess a positive attitude, and have a commitment to work safely, provide consistent quality customer service, create customer satisfaction and work productively.

Additional duties of the Vaultman Cableman include but are not limited to (duties and responsibilities will be commensurate with level hired into):

* Perform all associated tasks with the construction and maintenance of all underground facilities.

* Troubleshoot and repair all underground network circuits and equipment. May be assigned to work with other Journeymen or lower classifications without the direct supervision of a higher-level classification.

* Safely perform all network underground switching.

* May be required to work in inclement weather for extended hours and may be required to travel throughout the system in cases of emergencies and storms to restore the system.

* Will be responsible for all assigned work being done in accordance with all company design standards and work methods.

* Will be required to prepare all job associated paperwork.

Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma or GED and meet the following criteria:

* Must meet Driver Qualification requirements including the possession of a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class

A.

* Must have a Minimum of 4 years verifiable work experience as a certified cable splicer mechanic or completed approved 4 year apprenticeship.

* Must be available for emergency call-outs for overtime assignments as well as on-call assignments.

* Must have effective communication skills (verbal and written).

* Ability to successfully work with customers on a wide range of concerns.

* Must be self-motivated and possess a positive attitude.

* Demonstrated commitment to work safely.

* Must be physically capable of safely lifting and carrying construction equipment.

* Must have a well-rounded knowledge of network primary feeder circuits, transformer loading, connections, network protector operations and fusing practices.

* Must be proficient in splicing and terminating all types of underground cable to include PILC.

* Must be experienced in operation of Line Construction and Maintenance vehicles including, but not limited to, fork lifts, digger-derricks, platform digger units, wire and rope tensioning units, and other similar equipment.

* Must be familiar with use of rubber gloves, sleeves, line hose, switching procedures, as well as in the use of PPE in accordance with Company and OSHA requirements.

For External and Non-Xcel Energy Journeyman candidates, verification of Cable Mechanic qualifications and knowledge will include written testing and/or practical skills evaluation during the application process.
