OVERVIEW
The Life Safety Technical Resource serves as a subject matter expert for fire alarm and life safety systems, providing technical guidance across multiple project types. This role ensures proper integration of fire alarm systems with related building systems, reviews installations for compliance with NFPA and building codes, and supports inspections with AHJs. Additionally, the position leads training initiatives to develop team expertise and maintain industry certifications.
Compensation$85,000 - $100,000 depending on experience
LocationThis role can be based out of our Lakewood or Fort Collins office, but travel throughout Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and Utah will be required.

- Review the scope of fire alarm and integration of the life safety systems with superintendents and lead foremen
- Review installations at regular intervals for multiple projects (30/60/90 percent intervals)
- Work with the field installers on inspections with AHJs where needed
- Meet with AHJs and Fire Alarm designers on issues that may arise
- Teach and develop fire alarm courses onsite and through Encore University
- Support training and development to assist others in obtaining Fire Alarm Licenses (NICET/Blue Card/PPRBD) and working with project resources to ensure retention of these licenses
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge Of
- Fire Alarm systems, installation methods, and multiple manufacturers’ products
- Integration of life safety systems with Sprinkler, HVAC, Elevators, Access Control, BAS, Kitchen Systems, Security, VESDA, DAS, and Two-Way Communication systems
- NFPA codes (70, 72, 13, 92, 1224, 99, 101) and IBC/IFC/IMC standards
- Shop drawing review processes and AHJ requirements
- NICET II certification standards and licensing requirements
Skill In
- Reviewing and interpreting technical drawings and project scopes
- Conducting installation reviews at 30/60/90% intervals
- Coordinating inspections and resolving issues with AHJs and designers
- Strong written and verbal communication for technical discussions and documentation
- Training and course development for fire alarm systems
Ability To
- Apply advanced technical knowledge to ensure compliance and integration of systems
- Exercise independent judgment in problem-solving and decision-making
- Build relationships and collaborate effectively with superintendents, foremen, AHJs, and designers
- Teach and mentor others to develop technical competencies and maintain certifications

Must hold an active NICET II certification or equivalent in Fire Alarm systems. Must pursue NICET Level III Certification in Fire Alarms Systems within 12 months of holding this position. Possess a working knowledge of fire alarm installation methods, multiple manufacturers’ systems, and integration with related building systems such as sprinklers, HVAC, elevators, access control, BAS, and emergency communication systems. Demonstrated experience supervising or installing fire alarm systems across various occupancy types, including healthcare, high-rise, education, data centers, and industrial facilities.
