Overview
This position is open to current Colorado residents only. This recruitment may be used to fill multiple vacancies. Division of Facilities Management - Northern District.
The Division of Facilities exists to plan, design, construct, operate, maintain and manage CDHS facilities and campuses to promote a safe, sanitary and effective environment for clients, youth, residents, customers and staff, and to enhance the quality of life in CDHS facilities and the surrounding neighborhoods. Facilities served include CMHH Fort Logan, DHS (1575 Sherman St.), WRRC and DYS facilities (Prairie Vista, Gilliam, Lookout Mountain Campus, Marvin W.
Foote, Mount View Campus, Platte Valley) with support to the Veterans Community Living Center. Total facilities are approximately 1.9 million sq. ft. at multiple sites within the Northern Region.
This position works at and travels to Northern District facilities to repair, install and maintain plumbing systems, building and associated equipment in CDHS facilities.
Responsibilities- Perform troubleshooting, installation, repair and maintenance on plumbing equipment and systems including pumps, temperature controls, hot water heating systems, domestic water systems, sewer and waste disposal systems.
- Perform journeyman plumbing work including unstopping commodes, sinks, floor drains, replacing washers, seats, traps, valves, supply lines, handles, stool seats and related plumbing accessories and fixtures.
- Repair and/or replace equipment or systems that are not operational, damaged or obsolete to restore operation or improve efficiency.
- Complete preventive maintenance, routine work orders, and assist with new construction, remodels, or modification of plumbing systems including irrigation systems; assist with project work as needed.
- Maintain, test and repair Life Safety Systems including fire hydrants, standpipes and fire suppression systems.
- Order and purchase materials, maintain stock in the warehouse, and keep vehicle, warehouse and shop areas clean.
- Read and interpret blueprints; follow installation instructions and diagnose material failures; research alternate materials.
- Prepare records and perform accurate reporting on daily task sheets, leave slips, work orders, log books, inspection forms, purchase receipts and other administrative forms to ensure efficient workflow.
- Maintain stock and equipment in assigned vehicle; assist with daily assignments and project work as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
This is a full-time, in-person, essential position that may require responding to callbacks after hours for essential and/or emergency services. Shift work may be required; shift differential may apply.
QualificationsSpecial Qualification: Applicants must possess an active Journey worker/Journeyman or Master Plumber license issued by the State of Colorado. A copy of the license must be attached to the application.
Experience Only: At least three years of full-time plumbing experience that led to the Colorado Plumbing license (Journey worker/Master). This experience must be clearly documented in the application.
Education and Experience: A combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship program, and/or relevant experience equal to three (3) years. To use this substitution, attach transcripts/apprenticeship documentation to the application.

Preferred Qualifications- Excellent attention to detail; customer-service oriented, with a pleasant attitude; independent and self-directed; problem-solving and resourcefulness.
- Basic computer skills: email, Google applications, Microsoft Office.
- Experience with a work order system.
- Active cross-connection certificate.
- Institutional and/or correctional plumbing experience.
- Full pre-employment criminal background check required due to direct contact with vulnerable persons. Felony convictions or certain misdemeanors may disqualify you. If charged or convicted, provide official disposition to CDHS Background Unit.
- Must be willing to submit to and pass a full background check.
- Must possess and maintain an active Colorado Journey worker/Journeyman or Master Plumber license.
- Must possess and maintain a current, valid non-restricted Colorado driver’s license.
- Must be willing to travel using state vehicles and may travel to training and meetings.
- Must be willing to receive an annual influenza vaccination or provide a medical or religious exemption.
- Must successfully pass a Tuberculosis (TB) test.
- Must be available for call back and shift work to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay.
- Hazard exposure: proximity to moving parts, exposure to chemicals, electrical shock, and working in exposed places.
