Low Voltage Tech; Building Automation Systems

• Cabling installation
• Equipment rack installation
• Jack and connector installation
• Cable types include: CAT3, CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a, fiber optic, COAX, speaker and control wire
• Testing with various pieces of test equipment
• Installs fiber and copper cable in ceilings, conduits and raised floors; routes cable within walls and modular furniture; terminates both fiber and copper cabling
• Terminates and dresses communications closets following standard BICSI termination processes
• Tests cable and documents test results
• Demonstrates thorough understanding of cabling standards
• Lighting control system installation
• Mechanical control systems installation
• BAS system installation
• Performs testing and troubleshooting
• Adequate knowledge of cabling infrastructures
• Reads and interprets floor plans
• Other duties as assigned

• Career Level: Service Tech Low Voltage Level 1 & 2
• Indirect supervision
• Performs technical responsibilities
• Contributes to the development and improvement of concepts, techniques and procedures
• Coordinates own tasks with a specific range of responsibilities under established procedures
• Contributes to a team under general supervision of an experienced professional or manager
• Skilled specialist or recent college/university graduate
• Role specific skills and experience required
• Service Technician HVAC Level 1: minimum 10 years of experience and Class A Supervisor’s refrigeration license
• Service Technician HVAC Level 2: minimum 5 years of experience and Journeyman’s refrigeration license
• Requires judgment or initiative in resolving issues and making recommendations
• Supervision and guidance of crews
• Other duties as assigned

• Specialist/Journeyman - Low Voltage Level 3
• Receives direct supervision
• Performs technical responsibilities
• Contributes to the development and improvement of concepts, techniques and procedures
• Coordinates own tasks with a specific range of responsibilities under established procedures
• Contributes to a team under general supervision of an experienced professional or manager
• Skilled specialist
• Role specific skills and experience required
• Service Technician HVAC Level 3: minimum 3 years of experience and enrolled in an apprenticeship program
• Requires judgment or initiative in resolving issues and making recommendations
• Other duties as assigned

• Work outside, inside, and in dusty, noisy, and hazardous areas
• Work in high places, tight places, confined spaces and/or other adverse locations
• Climb, balance, squat, kneel and crouch
• Work in all types of weather
• Must have working knowledge of all trade materials and tools
• Ability to lift, move, and/or carry 50 lbs
• Comply with all company policies and procedures
