Pay Range

Major Objectives

The Storm Water Technician will perform semi-skilled manual work, which is performed alone or as part of a crew, involving stormwater system inspections, maintenance, and repairs. Inspections include storm drain inlets, yard inlets, pipes, ditches, and streams. This position requires manual labor in the field and will be required to perform heavy physical labor in all types of weather conditions, using a variety of tools and equipment.

The individual must be able to be directed and complete tasks under direct supervision or direction in a timely and professional manner.

Pay: $45,000 - $55,000 per year

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain positive, organization‑focused relationships with co‑workers, supervisors, agencies, the general public, and all other internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrate appropriate customer service skills.
  • Perform both skilled and un‑skilled tasks that are physically demanding.
  • Conduct general tasks including digging holes (manually and with equipment), filling depressions with slag or other SWMP approved materials, debris removal, storm water runoff and curb grubbing, and maintenance/repair of installed BMPs as directed by the supervisor (e.g., waddles, track outs, silt fences, check dams, dandy bags, detention basins, and general site cleaning).
  • Perform all other duties as required to meet organizational needs.
  • Operate equipment such as trucks, ski steer, trench machines, hand tools, and backpack blowers. Training and certification will be coordinated with the supervisor.
  • Perform preventative maintenance of equipment as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Means of transportation (as needed).
  • General knowledge of construction work sites relative to PPE and general safety awareness (as dictated by OSHA guidelines and company standards).
  • Consistently detail oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Analytical skills to forecast and identify trends and challenges.
  • Budget‑management skills.
  • Professional judgment and discretion gained from experience in customer service, internal teams, and 3rd‑party consultants.

Physical Demands
  • Climb up to four flights of stairs to access apartments.
  • Walk several acres to inspect community.
  • Lift 50‑75 lbs. daily.
  • Operate dangerous equipment.
  • Move furniture and equipment, shovel, rake, lift, climb, and walk; adapt to inclement weather.
  • Sit or stand for long periods.
