Job Summary

This position is located within the Auraria Campus Police Department (ACPD) on the Auraria Campus. This is a dynamic area surrounded by three sporting arenas and a vibrant urban Downtown experience. The ACPD provides comprehensive law enforcement services, including emergency, non‑emergency, technical, and communications support to the Auraria Campus Community as State of Colorado Peace Officers. This role requires rotating shift work, and candidates must be willing and able to work various shifts.

Essential Job Functions Criminal Law Enforcement
  • Respond to all criminal and non‑criminal calls for service.
  • Conduct field interviews of suspicious individuals.
  • Investigate reported crimes, gather evidence, and interview victims, witnesses, and suspects.
  • Arrest or detain individuals when appropriate and provide required advisements.
  • Enforce traffic laws and investigate motor vehicle accidents, providing aid as needed.
  • Patrol and monitor campus to deter crime and assist individuals in need of law enforcement services.
  • Safely respond to emergencies, both criminal and non‑criminal.
Record Keeping, Documenting, and Evidence Handling
  • Prepare and complete reports for criminal cases submitted to the District or City Attorney.
  • Prepare reports for campus administrative actions and distribute them to AHEC, UCD, MSU and CCD.
  • Preserve, log, and store all required evidence properly.
  • Testify in court as needed.
Special Events, Crowd Control, Motor Vehicle and Facility assists
  • Maintain crowd and traffic control at public events (rallies, demonstrations, concerts, sporting events).
  • Provide specialized law enforcement agencies on dignitary protection protection and security.
  • Coordinate with other law enforcement escorts for campus monetary operations.
  • Assist and monitor the public as needed.
  • Lock and unlock AHEC facilities as required.
Training & Education
  • Participate in in‑service training, specialized law enforcement training, and continuing education.
  • Maintain proficiency in firearms, arrest control, defensive tactics, and all P.O.S.T.
