Director, Security
Riot Platforms is seeking a Director, Security to provide proactive leadership, expertise, and oversight for a comprehensive, best-practices security program across the enterprise
-including data centers, critical infrastructure, and high-value sites. This role strengthens safety, minimizes risk and liability, and oversees violence prevention, training and awareness, threat assessment, incident response, physical security upgrades, and related policies. The Director will partner closely with local, state, and federal law enforcement, as well as internal stakeholders, to deliver timely responses that align with safety, quality, management, and financial priorities.
Functions
- Describe the experience and attributes of the ideal candidate
- Excellent working knowledge of physical security principles and facilities technology systems, with high-level skills in access control and video monitoring technology. Exceptional candidates will have experience in complex, multi-site organizations, preferably with data centers or other mission-critical facilities.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate and mitigate emerging threats to data center and bitcoin mining environments, and proficiency in designing and maintaining layered security controls (e.g., perimeter protection, biometrics, CCTV, intrusion detection) within these facilities.
- Strong analytical skills for developing, analyzing, and implementing recommendations to enhance physical and operational security (e.g., redundancy, compartmentalization, strict access management).
- Expertise in developing and implementing comprehensive Workplace Violence Prevention programs and ability to promote effective training on security protocols, access procedures, and emergency response in technical facilities.
- Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent education/experience considered.
- 15+ years of combined investigative law enforcement, government, security management, and threat assessment experience. Experience overseeing security for data centers or other critical infrastructure facilities is strongly preferred.
- Multidisciplinary experience: quantifiable experience working in or around another industry - education, hospitality, law, business, etc.
- 5+ years previous board or organizational experience, professional or volunteer.
Education and Experience
- CTM (ATAP).
- ASIS or other security certification. Additional certifications related to data center or critical infrastructure security are a plus.
- Competitive Salary:
Base salary range $150,000 - $180,000 (commensurate with experience) + bonus + sign-on equity grant. - 401k plan with company matching
