Position: Retail Associate (Temporary March 2026 - April 2027)

Ever wonder what it’s like to work behind the scenes of a world‑class exhibit? Have you ever wondered what it's like to work with large dinosaurs? Here is your chance. The Denver Museum of Nature & Science is looking for Temporary Event Staff to bring our pop‑up retail shops to life during two of our most anticipated upcoming experiences.

This isn’t just “working a register.” You’ll be the final stop in a guest’s journey, helping them take a piece of the discovery home with them. If you are reliable, high‑energy, and love the buzz of a busy museum environment, we want to meet you.

This seasonal, temporary role runs from March 2026 through April 2027, featuring a consistent schedule from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. most days, with a shift extension until 9:30 p.m. for our Friday night events.

Job Class:
Part Time, Temporary

Hiring Range: $20/hour

Work Schedule:

3 days per week, 20‑25 hours. Evenings, holidays and weekends required.

Essential Duties
  • Greets and answers customers' questions, and provides basic information.
  • Ensures customer transaction is completed timely and accurately.
  • Resolves customer issues as they arise, in a way that is best for the guest.
  • Takes responsibility to learn all aspects of the sales position including opening and closing protocols.
  • Stocks merchandise throughout the shift and before leaving to ensure a full retail space when open.
  • Keeps merchandise displayed in an orderly manner.
  • Handles money and can count back change. Receives payment by cash, credit cards, or automatic debits. Issues receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
  • Adheres to cash handling policies and compliance standards. Maintains a clean and orderly checkout area.
  • Maintains the Retail Operations space to address any required health and safety requirements.
  • Actively tags merchandise, restocks and merchandises stock as needed.
Minimum Qualifications /Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • 6 months’ experience in a fast‑paced retail environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Ideal Candidate Will Be/Have
  • POS experience.
  • Basic cash handling or point‑of‑sale experience.
  • A positive, can‑do attitude and enthusiasm for creating joyful, memorable guest experiences.
