Security Specialist

Summary

The Store Security Specialist has responsibility to protect company assets and improve profitability by implementing company security programs for the Arc thrift stores, employees and customers. This position reports to the Protective Services Manager/Director.

• Primary responsibility for store security, employee security and retail customer support.
• Internal focus includes cash handling, inventory control, facilities and equipment damage, security access, fraud, and a variety of audits of employee activities.
• External focus includes deterring shoplifting, vandalism, counterfeiting, robbery, burglary and store safety.
• Collaborate with appropriate store personnel to implement the loss prevention programs.
• Conduct loss prevention meetings in stores as needed.
• Assist in implementing short‑term and long‑term goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures related to loss prevention programs.
• Anticipate problems and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Support the corporate culture by promoting a communication style of open communication, accountability, diversity and consistent treatment of all employees and customers.
• Communicate with store personnel, LP personnel and other managers as appropriate.
• Perform other special projects or tasks as assigned.

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

• 3–5 years of store security experience in a business/retail environment.
• Experience working with a diverse workforce.
• Interest in the retail thrift business.
• Previous experience in a multi‑site business or a shared service center.

Must have a current security guard license or be able to obtain one, which includes passing an FBI background check, and a current state‑issued driver’s license.

Perform duties regularly using hands, walking and standing for long periods, frequently lifting or moving up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision and color vision.
