Baristas expertly craft coffee, tea, and cocktail offerings while providing a strong sense of knowledge and hospitality to guests. They will also assist in all aspects of FOH, including running food and drink, clearing tables, and greeting guests. All baristas will exemplify our core values, connecting with guests in a professional manner to ensure excellence in service.
Duties and Responsibilities- Arrive to work every day with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and be prepared for the shift.
- Operate as service well and support servers during brunch shifts.
- Know the table numbers and position numbers in all sections of the restaurant.
- Set up bar station in a timely manner, working alongside coworkers to ensure mise en place is set to standard and ready for a busy service.
- Serve alcoholic beverages only to guests over 21 years of age. Check IDs every time, without exception. Get your manager involved if needed.
- Know and execute the service expectations outlined in the service manual.
- Help promote a safe and clean environment for co-workers and guests. Maintain the ABK mantra.
- Be capable of covering brunch server shifts when needed.
- Maintain complete knowledge of products and specifications, including ingredients, descriptions, sourcing, brands, and allergens.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of our POS operation.
- Use heightened awareness for allergy tables and code according to allergy standards.
- Check in with staff working in your space upon arrival and offer help before beginning duties.
- Perform bar maintenance throughout the shift, including tidying, keeping waters full, and clearing and resetting serving ware.
- Coordinate service at the bar with bar back, runners, and bartenders when appropriate.
- Report all guest complaints to management immediately and follow our five steps for navigating guest complaints. Every negative comment/experience will be addressed by a manager so no customer leaves unhappy.
- Build relationships with regular guests and maintain good relations with our neighborhood and industry community members.
- Comply with sanitation standards and procedures according to health and legal regulations.
- Complete weekly cleaning duties, in addition to opening and closing duties.
- Maintain a reasonable response time for Slack communication: respond before your next shift where possible.
- Handle gift certificate transactions, fill out all pertinent documentation, and present to the guest.
- Maintain a reasonable schedule with flexible availability, including early mornings or late nights, holidays, and time for staff meetings and tastings.
- Focus on continuing education across all facets of our operations, including Bar, Kitchen, Service, Coffee, and Tea programs.
- Employees are responsible for obtaining shift coverage if they cannot report to a scheduled shift (except in cases of illness). If coverage cannot be arranged, contact your supervisor no less than 8 hours prior to your scheduled start time.
- Act professionally and represent Death & Co / Gin & Luck graciously whether in-house, traveling, or at another local establishment.
- Assist in training new hires by guiding them through training trails, answering questions, providing workflow advice, and teaching them G&L's expectations, steps of service, and SOPs.

- The Barista reports to Lead Barista and Floor Managers.
- The Barista works in tandem with other Baristas and Bar Staff.
- $xx/hr plus a point percentage of the full house tip pool, based on hours worked per shift.
