Responsibilities and Duties:
- Administer care for patients in assisted living communities, nursing homes, and skilled nursing facilities
- Administer and document medications
- Provide resident care in accordance with federal, state, and local standards
- Facilitate Care Plans as directed by residents' medical professionals
- At times, manage the activities of individual caregivers
- Promote the highest degree of quality care and services to residents, following community policies
- Respect and encourage the independence and dignity of residents
- Maintain resident confidentiality
- Become familiar with emergency equipment and procedures
- Attend all required training, in-service, and staff meetings
- Maintain a safe working environment by preventing accidents and preserving equipment
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, families, and co-workers
- Adhere to all policies and procedures of the community
- Perform other duties as assigned
Educational Requirements:
- Nursing Degree from an accredited college/university or an approved LPN/LVN program
- Current, unencumbered license to practice as an LPN in Colorado
- CPR certification
- Ability to pass a criminal background check as well as Colorado CAPS background check
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Previous experience working with seniors is preferred and a desire to serve and care for seniors
- Ability to make decisions and act in the resident's best interest
- Ability to remain calm in difficult situations
- Ability to handle multiple priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Minimum of six (6) months of experience working with seniors in assisted living, home health, independent living, hospital, or long-term care environments
