Position Summary
Assistant Nurse Manager 2E SCI operationalizes the Craig mission and values with the nursing department by providing supervision of day‑to‑day nursing activities performed by all licensed and unlicensed nursing professionals on assigned unit(s) and shift. This position provides leadership with expertise and clinical skills necessary to promote expert nursing care and ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.
In partnership with other Nursing Leadership professionals, the Assistant Nurse Manager promotes clinical innovation, evidence‑informed practices, evaluation of patient care outcomes and positive patient, family and staff experiences. This position may require direct patient care depending on staffing needs and hospital oversight in absence of nurse managers.
- Licensure/Certification/Registrations:
Current Colorado RN license and current BLS for the Health Care Provider certification required. ACLS required. Magnet recognized, relevant specialty certification required within 6 months of hire. - Education:
Graduate of a nursing program from an accredited college or university required. Graduated from a CCNE or NLNAC accredited school of nursing preferred;
Bachelor of Science in nursing degree required. - Experience:
Minimum of two years nursing preferred. - Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of nursing principles, patient safety; neuroscience and acute med/surg experience in rehabilitation setting strongly preferred; ability to assess staff, patient, and family needs; excellent organization, customer service; ability to handle multiple priorities; effective communication; accurate documentation; team‑building; crisis response; quality improvement; confidentiality; analytical; presentation; creative; strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Ensure staff practices according to ANA Code of Ethics and Colorado Nurse Practice Act; provide direct patient care; use Standards of Care and policies.
- Collaborate with nursing team, staffing department, and other leaders to assess and allocate staff resources based on patient needs.
- Complete staffing assignments for assigned units, ensuring fair coverage.
- Communicate with staffing department to oversee daily schedule, allocating resources per acuity.
- Oversee unit assignments ensuring workloads are equitable.
- Maintain visibility during shifts to ensure consistent leadership; supervise nursing personnel, demonstrate professional judgment, problem‑solve, delegate appropriately.
- Partner with nurse managers and Unit-Based Council to ensure quality improvement metrics are met.
- Address patient, family and staff concerns in a timely manner, engaging and reporting to nurse manager when necessary.
- Monitor unit equipment and report maintenance needs timely; ensure proper ticketing.
- Monitor adherence to infection prevention practices.
- Promote customer service by exhibiting positive, courteous behavior.
- Other related duties as assigned.
