Overview

JOB SUMMARY: The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual donors capable of making significant financial contributions to support Tepeyac Community Health Center. This role manages a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors and works closely with the Director of Development and Communications, and the development team to grow philanthropic revenue. This is a relationship-centered position ideal for a self-motivated fundraiser who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys building authentic donor partnerships.

Education And Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, marketing, public relations, or related field;
    Master’s degree preferred.
  • At minimum, five years of fundraising/development experience in a non-profit environment with a proven track record in securing major gifts.
  • Verbal and written communications skills required.
  • Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) preferred.
  • Community health center, public health, or health experience preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) desired.
  • Experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) databases, particularly Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Major Gifts Fundraising
  • Identify, qualify, and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors
  • Develop and implement individualized cultivation and solicitation strategies
  • Conduct in-person, virtual, and phone meetings with donors and prospects
  • Prepare proposals, talking points, and customized donor communications
  • Meet fundraising target goals as set by and in collaboration with Director of Development & Communications, CEO, and Board
Donor Stewardship & Engagement
  • Ensure timely and meaningful stewardship of major donors
  • Partner with leadership and program staff to connect donors with impact
  • Coordinate donor recognition and engagement opportunities
  • Maintain accurate donor records and moves management tracking in CRM
Collaboration & Strategy
  • Work closely with the Director of Development and Communications, Tepeyac Leadership, and other staff to identity and engage potential major donors, and to maintain donor relationships
  • Support board members in donor engagement and solicitation efforts
  • Contribute to annual fundraising goals and long-term development strategy
  • Assist with special events and campaigns as needed
Data Management and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of donor interactions in the database
  • Track and report on key metrics, including donor engagement, solicitation outcomes, and revenue goals
  • Research trends and opportunities in philanthropy to optimize donor engagement and fundraising practices
Other Duties And Responsibilities
  • Attend required internal meetings, trainings, and events.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in donor database systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • A passion for the organization’s mission and the ability to inspire others to give
  • Self-sufficient and teamwork focused
