The Manager of Advocacy and Engagement leads Voces Unida’s efforts to build Latino political power by driving local, regional and statewide advocacy campaigns, organizing grasstop Latino leaders and registered Latino voters, and advancing policy priorities that impact Latino communities across 15 counties in the Western Slope. This role ensures that Latino communities have organized, strategic, and sustained influence in policy and decision making processes.

Description

Essential Functions and Responsibilities Advocacy
  • Lead plan and execute local, regional and statewide advocacy campaigns that move Voces Unidas’ policy priorities.
  • Organize and mobilize grasstop Latino leaders and Latino voters across 15 counties to participate in legislative campaigns, issue campaigns and rapid response actions.
  • Develop campaign strategies, timelines, escalation plans and action steps that build pressure and influence.
  • Execute online actions such as petitions, emails to elected officials, digital mobilizations and social media calls to action.
  • Execute in person actions such as rallies, press events, testimony, lobby days in Denver, D.C., and Mexico City.
  • Identify power building opportunities and analyze political landscapes to inform strategy.
  • Track advocacy outcomes, document wins and report on campaign progress to CEO.
  • Represent Voces Unidas at strategic community events across the Western Slope.
  • Table and participate in events to promote Voces Unidas’ programs and mission and advance advocacy efforts.
  • Develop and host networking events in strategic communities to build relationships, collect feedback, and identify advocacy opportunities.
Grasstop Latino Leader and Latino Voter Engagement
  • Build and maintain a strong network of aligned grasstop Latino leaders across 15 counties, including mapping leaders, managing the engagement database and distinguishing grasstop vs. grassroots roles.
  • Strengthen and mobilize leaders through consistent outreach, active online engagement, and monthly regional convenings focused on networking, issues, and advocacy opportunities.
  • Identify potential public office candidates and activate leaders to participate in advocacy campaigns, testify on priority issues, and influence policy decisions.
  • Lead year-round voter engagement, including mapping priority areas, canvassing/phone banking, voter registration, issue education and GOTV efforts, and community events that connect elections to advocacy priorities.
  • Host community events (ballot parties, forums) that tie elections to advocacy priorities.
  • Partner with internal teams to develop culturally relevant voter materials, publish accurate election information, and align voter engagement with broader organizational advocacy goals, including endorsements, policy education and mobilizing communities.
Advocacy Programs and Alumni Engagement
  • Lead strategy, planning, recruitment, and facilitation for Voces Unida’s leadership programs in Denver, Washington, D.C., and Mexico City.
  • Recruit Latino participants across Colorado by building partnerships, expanding rural outreach, and maintaining a strong pipeline of aligned leaders.
  • Design and implement workshops, training orientations, and informational sessions to build participants’ understanding of social systems and strengthen leadership skills.
