Summary of Job Responsibilities
Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tool and Die Supervision to be responsible for leading the tool and die department at IDEX BAND-IT. This person will provide supervision, technical direction, training, and mentorship for the tool and die team. They will oversee the production, maintenance, repair of progressive stamping dies used in production stamping and forming processes.
Reporting To: Sr. Production Manager

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform this job successfully.
- Leadership of die making and CNC machining operations
- Must have hands on expertise using machine tools: lathe, mill, surface grinder, machining centers, wire and sinker EDM
- Knowledge of and experience working with various tool steels and carbide materials
- Expertise regarding construction and maintenance of progressive stamping dies
- 3D CAD expertise (SOLIDWORKS Preferred)
- General computer skills including MS Office
- Experience:
10 years experience as tool and die maker - Journeyman Tool and Die Maker
- 2 years successful tool and die leadership

- Managing teams:
Overseeing skilled workers responsible for constructing, maintaining, and modifying, machining operations on tools, dies, prototypes, forms inserts, punches, fixtures, and molds. - Supervising operations:
Coordinating the setup and operation of various lathes, grinders, milling, and boring machines used to produce tools. - Scheduling, prioritizing, and assigning jobs and tasks within tool and die department
- May be required to perform machining tasks as a working leader of the tool and die team
- Tooling development and improvements:
Completing high-level tool development work and ensuring jobs are completed correctly and on time. - Team resource:
Suggesting improvements to processes and serving as a knowledge resource for other team members. - Collaboration:
Ensure full die readiness with necessary contingency plans for consistent press shop operations. Working with other departments such as production, quality control, and engineering to address issues and support new product development. - Diagnose and fix technical production issues associated die status or condition
- Demonstrate initiative to implement best practices, train, and mentor growing employees.
- Manage existing tooling and die performance to specs., ensuring calibration and maintenance of existing tooling and die, as well and planning and working to implement new equipment within tool and die department
- Climate-controlled office environment or shop floor.
- Noise exposure is light to moderate.
