The Quality Assurance & Food Safety (FSQA) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing, monitoring, and documenting process controls to ensure all products are manufactured safely, consistently, and in compliance with established specifications and regulatory requirements. This role leads and supports Quality Assurance Technicians across all shifts, ensuring process audits, ingredient inspections, and GMP compliance are consistently executed.
Responsibilities- Maintain and coach employees on proper sanitation, personal hygiene, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Ensure production and quality parameters are met for all products.
- Enforce strict identity-preserved manufacturing requirements, including Kosher and Gluten-Free programs.
- Support compliance with HACCP, SQF, FDA, State Department of Health, and customer requirements.
- Complete HACCP documentation (daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly) and ensure records are accurate, verified, and submitted on time.
- Review food safety and quality records completed by all departments.
- Manage the Pest Control program and ensure findings and recommendations are resolved in a timely manner.
- Assist with new and current employee training on food safety, HACCP, and related programs.
- Participate in external audits and regulatory inspections, including FDA, Department of Health, SQF certification, Kosher, Gluten-Free, and customer audits.
- Identify, report, and assist in resolving food safety or quality issues; escalate concerns to the FSQA Manager, as needed.
- Perform pre-shift and post-shift checks, daily SSOP facility walkthroughs, and sanitation verifications.
- Manage the Positive Release program, including placing product on hold during food safety or quality incidents.
- Reinforce the implementation and adherence to SOPs and SSOPs.
- Support the FSQA Manager with annual prerequisite programs, including calibration, environmental monitoring, and verification/validation activities.
- Routinely monitor and document cooler temperatures throughout the week.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready work environment.
- Conduct monthly internal audits to verify SQF procedures are properly followed.
- Provide backup support and coverage for QA Technicians as needed.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in food safety and quality assurance within a food manufacturing environment.
- HACCP (Seafood preferred) and/or PCQI certification strongly preferred.
- Experience working in small, fast-paced, entrepreneurial manufacturing environments.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build cross-functional relationships.
