Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Director of Commercial - Data Centers
, is responsible for formulating and executing the business strategy to build the data centers business. This role reports directly to the VP, Sales North America.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and implement a segment growth strategy for the Datacenter market, for both liquid and air cooling.
  • Create and execute the business plan, in line with the Americas Strategic Plan and budget targets.
  • Build solid relationships with customers, vendors, and distributors, as well as the sales and marketing teams.
  • Lead business development and client relationship management teams.
  • Understand industry dynamics, decision‑making process and decision makers on product specification and buying decisions.
  • Work collaboratively with Regional and Global Sales and Product Line Management leaders on new opportunities and needs of our customers.
  • Technology trends/technology shifts - understand how the industry requirements are changing and translate how it affects the utilization of Gates products (for example: immersion cooling, direct to chip cooling).
  • Developing and strengthening internal and external relationships that will lead to increased lead generation and market share.
  • Fostering and working to maintain an entrepreneurial growth culture throughout the company and across all teams and work functions.
  • Monitor key competitors' performance; compare to our own performance and draw conclusions on areas of growth opportunities and/or identify competitive threats to the business.
  • Drive marketing efforts and market awareness of Gates Fluid Power and Power Transmission portfolio for different Data Center customers and Cooling Solution OEM, and Integrators.
  • Direct efforts to identify and map key players in the decision‑making chain (Engineering Firm /Consultants /Owner & operators of data center and crypto sites / Developers & Integrators).
  • Assessing sales and marketing as well as supplier and vendor operations and recommending improvements as needed.
  • Coordinating required efforts to respond to requests for proposals (RFPs).
  • Developing and managing strategic partnerships to grow business.
  • Presenting business or marketing opportunities to company executives and management.
Requirements and Preferred Skills

You will have a successful track record of understanding the business, their priorities and what drives them. You will be innovative, focused on process improvement and enjoy working with a global team. In addition to strong organizational and communication skills, you should be team and customer focused and able to cultivate business relationships across the organization.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or Engineering. Master's Degree a plus.
  • Minimum 15 years' experience of progressive experience in sales or marketing.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a sales team and growing sales in the Datacenter industry.
  • Existing network at leading companies in the Datacenter industry including Server OEMs, Cooling OEMs, Hyperscalers, Integrators, MEP Consultants, Engineering Firms and Contractors.
  • Significant knowledge of the industrial supply chain and leading companies supporting the infrastructure growth of Datacenters.
  • An expert in the Data Center segment, including a deep understanding of the segment's technical process needs and challenges.
  • An understanding of cooling technologies and trends in the liquid and air cooling market.
