SUMMARY
Mortenson is looking for a Community Empowerment Manager that is responsible for supplier development, workforce inclusion, and workforce development across our operating groups. This role builds strong community relationships, supports diverse partnerships, and drives programs that create opportunities for businesses and individuals in the construction industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES Group Support- Partner with group leadership and project teams to establish and execute plans
- Drive plan engagement and accountability across the group and projects
- Partner effectively with the HQ team and key group stakeholders
- Attend and host community events and meetings
- Support key customer engagements and project pursuits
- Host events and open houses to identify small, local, and diverse owned businesses
- Establish and maintain relationships with businesses and external organizations
- Support trade partners and serve as a liaison
- Lead mentorship programs to help build capacity of current or potential trade partners
- Represent Mortenson at applicable meetings and events
- Partner with group and project leadership to ensure belonging of Craft team members
- Plan and execute programming to support inclusion and belonging
- Partner with internal Workforce Development subject matter experts
- Partner with external organizations that support workforce development
- Represent Mortenson at applicable meetings and events
- Establish programming to bring talent to Mortenson, the industry, or trade partners
- Represent Mortenson in community and help maintain a positive profile in the community
- Develop relationships with regulatory agencies and compliance officers
- Direct the preparation and submission of regulatory agency applications, reports, or correspondence
- Review all regulatory agency submission materials to ensure timeliness, accuracy, comprehensiveness, and compliance with regulatory standards
- Identify organizations with opportunities to collaborate
- Support company vision, strategies and plan for Community Empowerment
- Engage in community of practice
- Analyze information including participation in the community and research on trends, laws, issues, and concerns, identify trends, and share action plans to further with Mortenson's Community Affairs efforts
- Provide project and program level support to Director of Community Empowerment to meet all Community Empowerment efforts
- Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, External Relations, Human Resources or equivalent field
- Minimum five years of related experience
- Previous experience interacting with company and community leaders
- Previous experience in construction and contracting
- Ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders with diverse backgrounds
- Ability to build relationships quickly
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects with varying deadlines simultaneously
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
- Knowledge of data analysis and reporting
- Strong cross-cultural relationship building and influencing at all organizational level
- Proven track record of including diverse team members when assigning challenging and high-profile tasks
- Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback
- Strong cross-cultural relationship building and influencing at all organizational levels and sometimes without authority
- Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and manage performance
- Project Management Skills - Ability to oversee multiple projects, drive alignment on a plan, effectively communicate, stay organized and get things on time through others.
- Communication and Collaboration - Ability to work with others to drive alignment, share and obtain insights and move things forward with strong teamwork orientation. Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback. Strong, written, verbal, and presentation skills. Ability to interact with a diverse population and build relationships quickly.

The base pay range for this role is $79,600 MIN - $119,400 MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C.
