This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who thrives in a leadership position, takes ownership of outcomes, and is passionate about delivering exceptional operational performance.
As the single point of contact for site engineering operations, you will lead day-to-day facility management, oversee vendors and subcontractors, and partner directly with on-site clients. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of all building systems while maintaining a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement. A key objective of this role is achieving and sustaining 100% uptime of critical systems while protecting and enhancing the long-term value of the facility's assets.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
- Lead and oversee the maintenance, reliability, and continuous operation of all building systems, including fire/life safety, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, generators, UPS, switch gear, lighting, controls, and digital/security systems.
- Provide daily leadership, direction, and technical support to on-site maintenance staff, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Serve as the primary liaison between site operations, clients, and service providers to ensure alignment and timely resolution of issues.
- Maintain and manage the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), ensuring work orders and service requests are completed accurately and on time.
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance programs.
- Ensure all critical equipment procedures and emergency response processes are clearly documented and well understood by staff, tenants, and contractors.
- Conduct regular facility inspections, building rounds, and equipment readings; maintain accurate engineering logs and records.
- Identify opportunities for repairs, replacements, upgrades, and capital improvements, and assist with planning and budgeting.
- Identify safety hazards and proactively partner with site safety teams to maintain a safe working environment.
- Implement and manage safety training programs for staff, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, codes, and guidelines related to building infrastructure and operations.
- Escalate and document building discrepancies and operational risks as needed.
- Supervise and coordinate all facility-related subcontractors, including HVAC, fire/life safety, electrical, landscaping, snow removal, janitorial, pest control, elevators, and security services.
- Provide site-specific safety orientation and operational training for all contractors.
- Support budget development, invoice coding, and financial controls for assigned areas of responsibility.
- Perform and oversee general maintenance activities including light construction, painting, patching, carpentry, plumbing, electrical repairs, and fixture maintenance.
- Conduct routine inspections and testing of fire extinguishers, emergency eyewash stations, safety showers, AEDs, first aid kits, and emergency egress lighting.
- Coordinate small facility projects such as roofing, paving, electrical and plumbing upgrades.
- Manage HVAC and refrigeration maintenance including filter changes, belt replacements, lubrication, troubleshooting, and refrigerant checks.
- Perform roof inspections and follow up on required repairs.
- Oversee dock equipment maintenance including doors, levelers, locks, and lighting.
- Coordinate furniture moves and internal employee relocations.
- Support snow plowing, snow removal, salting, and snow blowing operations as required.
This is a highly visible leadership role with real impact. You will have full ownership of site operations, the opportunity to lead a diverse team, and the ability to influence safety, reliability, and long-term asset performance. For the right professional, this role offers autonomy, challenge, and the satisfaction of running a complex facility at the highest operational standards.
