The Ammonia Refrigeration Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all ammonia systems, fire monitoring systems, boiler systems, heat exchangers and glycol systems. The position will be based in Denver, CO. Shift for this position is a 12-hour night shift, working 3 days one week and 4 days the next.

• Operate and maintain electrical systems, mechanical equipment such as central plant refrigeration, steam boilers and air conditioning systems
• Update log sheets with temperatures and pressures, oil levels, vessel temperatures, banana room temperatures, and warehouse temperatures
• Work with outside vendors as needed
• Working environment may be wet, cold, freezing and/or may have sudden temperature changes

Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on experience, qualifications and collective bargaining agreement. Additional premiums for swing and grave shifts are available. Dependent on length of service, hours worked and collective bargaining agreement, benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO, paid holidays (7‑9 days annually), bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k)).

• Expertise in Ammonia Refrigeration
• Experience in mechanical systems
• Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Frick controls and basic DDC
• Knowledge of PSM, RMP and EPA/OSHA requirements
• Understanding of defrost/hot gas by-pass
• Familiarity with air handlers and condensers
• Understanding of refrigeration systems
• Knowledge of VFDs, fire systems, computers, control valves, switches, piping controls
• Ability to work all shifts including holidays and weekends
• Ability to lift over 50 pounds and perform physical tasks during shift
• Own own tools and knowledge of power tools
• High school diploma or trade school equivalent required
• Four years of refrigeration experience
• Possess or obtain Denver County Stationary Engineer’s license within 90 days
