Legal Department
The Legal team is responsible for managing the company's legal affairs from compliance through litigation, collaborating with departments such as Sales, Operations, Human Resources, and Innovation along the way. The Legal team also works closely with external law firms to develop a comprehensive legal strategy and manages these partners to address issues efficiently and effectively. Unlike many other companies where legal roles are purely advisory, Vantage distinguishes itself by granting our legal staff the authority to directly influence business decisions.
This empowers our internal team to align legal strategies with long-term operational goals, risk management, and cost efficiency to deliver outcomes that support corporate objectives. This approach allows each team member to make significant, impactful decisions, driving substantial results for the company.
Position Description
This role can be based in Denver, CO, following our flexible work policy (3 days in-office, 2 days flexible). Or remote.
This role sits within Vantage's Legal team and is focused on supporting North America operations through hands-on commercial contracting and construction-related legal work. Unlike traditional advisory roles, this position is embedded in the business and directly influences decisions tied to risk, cost, and execution.
You'll partner closely with teams across construction, procurement, operations, and leadership to negotiate and manage vendor agreements, ensure compliance, and provide practical, solution-oriented legal guidance that enables Vantage's data center development and operations.
Essential Job Functions
Contract Negotiation:
Negotiate, draft, and review North America vendor Master Agreements, NDAs, and Work Authorizations, ensuring alignment with company objectives and risk management strategies.
Work closely with the internal stakeholders to develop and implement standard processes for contracts, ensuring consistency, compliance, and efficiency.
Ensure all agreements and business practices comply with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. Proactively identify potential legal risks and work with business teams to mitigate them.
Construction Law Expertise:
Provide legal advice and support on matters related to construction law, including contract disputes, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
Internal
Collaboration:
Work closely with internal stakeholders, including project managers, procurement teams, and senior management, to understand business needs and provide effective and fast legal solutions.
Legal Services and
Risk Management:
Be a key part of the Legal team in delivering high-quality legal services and risk management, ensuring group-wide requirements are embedded in processes delivering Vantage's data center developments and operations.
Support Vantage and be a strategic partner by providing practical, proactive, business-focused, solutions-oriented, and sound legal advice to enable Vantage to achieve its business and strategic objectives while fully and appropriately managing legal risk.
Additional Duties:
Respond to and manage a variety of legal requests from different business units, providing timely and accurate legal advice.
Job Requirements
Education:
JD from an ABA accredited law school and admission to a State Bar
Experience:
3+ years of relevant legal experience
Some in-house experience
Good knowledge of and experience in drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial contracts
Experience with in the construction or data center industry preferred, but not required
Skills:
Executive presence and effective communication skills
Well rounded corporate and commercial lawyer who is also a practical and business-minded executive.
Strong communication skills, including verbal and written comprehension skills. Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills and stakeholder management.
Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative manner.
Ability to analyze complex business concepts and documents.
Ability to effectively respond to sensitive issues, complex inquiries or complaints in a timely manner.
Flexible, adaptable and self-directed; able to work in a variety of circumstances; e.g. remotely, across multiple time zones, cross functionally, by project, etc.
Successful candidate must be a team player, able to work with a variety of people.
Excellent organization and problem-solving skills that enable the successful candidate to juggle multiple responsibilities at once and consistently meet tight deadlines.
