Job Description & How to Apply Below

Osterman Law Firm P.C. is a boutique, AV+ rated law firm built on a simple belief: people are more than their assets. We believe that every estate plan is an opportunity to help families pass on more than wealth. We help our clients pass on their familys values, connections, and legacy across generations. Since 1982, our firm has proudly served families throughout Colorado, earning the trust of generations.

Over that time, we’ve developed a deep understanding of the issues families face as they build and protect their legacies. We approach every case with empathy, patience, and care. We believe it’s a privilege to serve our clients, and our client-focused, human approach speaks for itself – just ask the 127 clients who have taken the time to leave us five-star Google reviews.

We also believe that law can be both meaningful and enjoyable. We foster a collaborative, open‑door culture where any team member can ask questions and get support as needed. Although we respect and encourage our team members to have rich lives outside of work, we genuinely enjoy coming to work and we take pride in helping one another grow. Our firm leverages modern tech solutions to operate efficiently and transparently for clients, but never at the expense of the human connection that makes our work special.

We use modern drafting software, focus on clarity in communication, and prioritize excellence over volume.

About the Role

We’re in search of an Associate Attorney with three to five years of experience in estate planning and probate & trust administration to join our growing team.

This position is ideal for someone who:
  • Enjoys both the technical and personal aspects of estate planning work;
  • Can work independently both in‑office and remotely;
  • Appreciates a balanced, collaborative environment that values autonomy, communication, and a relaxed but professional culture;
  • Thrives spending time in front of clients and advisors, building long‑lasting relationships rather than sitting behind a screen.
Position responsibilities include:
  • Manage a full‑time caseload of estate planning and probate & trust administration cases, from intake to completion;
  • Design, draft, review, and finalize estate planning documents (including but not limited to Trusts, Wills, Powers of Attorney, etc.);
  • Advise fiduciaries in probate & trust administration cases;
  • Participate in and lead client counseling meetings, providing practical and cost‑effective legal guidance;
  • Collaborate with the referral partners, attorneys, paralegals, and support team to deliver exceptional client service;
  • Contribute to ongoing projects to improve systems/processes as well as client experience across practice areas.
Compensation, Bonus, and Benefits
  • $ to $, depending on experience, with bonus opportunities for meeting/exceeding productivity benchmarks;
  • Real opportunities to develop your professional networking and business development skills, with origination bonuses that reward initiative;
  • Firm contributes 50% of employee health insurance (medical) premiums;
  • Participation in the firm’s 401(k) with employer match, generous PTO policy and paid federal holidays;
  • Paid CLE and professional development opportunities, including Wealth Counsel support and opportunities to deepen legal expertise.
Qualifications
  • J.D. from ABA‑accredited law school; active Colorado Bar license in good standing (or eligible for reciprocal admission);
  • Three to five years experience in estate planning and probate & trust administration preferred (legal experience in related practice areas, including clerkship experience, will be considered);
  • Track record of navigating sensitive topics, such as death, divorce, second marriages, estranged children, addiction, and spendthrift issues, with empathy and professionalism;
  • Documented proficiency of distilling complex concepts (e.g., subtrust design, funding requirements, tax issues) into plain‑English for clients, beneficiaries, and allied professionals;
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace (GSuite), and video conferencing platforms required;
  • Familiarity with cloud‑based legal practice management software and estate planning‑specific software such as Wealth Counsel and Decision Vault preferred;
  • Organized, responsive, detail‑oriented, and comfortable with technology;
  • A good fit for modern, client‑focused, and growth‑oriented team.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Selected candidates will be invited to participate in a mock estate plan design meeting, which helps evaluate communication and client‑service skills in a real‑world setting.
