What You Will Do

This position leads and conducts criminal investigations into offenses reported to or identified by the Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Board. These often sensitive cases involve public officials, peace officers, or law enforcement agencies and include offenses such as official misconduct, excessive force, failure to intervene, untruthfulness, improper administration of ketamine, and fraud.

Key responsibilities include developing case strategies, conducting interviews, collecting evidence, and preparing for criminal and civil hearings. The investigator also collaborates with law enforcement agencies statewide and provides education and training to peace officers and agencies.

This role supports the POST mission by managing peace officer de‑certification processes, ensuring compliance with state statutes and POST rules. Duties include issuing subpoenas, coordinating administrative hearings, maintaining accurate records, and managing the public‑facing Peace Officer Database.
