Associate - Liability & Excess Coverage

Clyde & Co US LLP seeks litigation associates with 3 to 9 years of experience to join our growing insurance coverage practice in California. The practice represents insurers in complex commercial and insurance litigation matters concerning commercial general liability and excess policies.

• Analyze rights and obligations under insurance policies, draft coverage opinions and provide coverage advice to clients.
• Conduct legal research, analyze findings and draft memoranda.
• Prepare and analyze pleadings, discovery, motions, supporting briefs and legal correspondence related to insurance coverage litigation.
• Meet and confer with clients, opposing counsel and other parties.
• Attend depositions, hearings and mediations.
• Take a proactive role in managing matters, deadlines and communication with clients.

• Is admitted to practice in California.
• Has experience in insurance coverage and coverage litigation, or a commercial litigation background with an interest in insurance coverage work.
• Has excellent legal research, writing and oral communication skills.
• Has strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• Can simultaneously handle sensitive and time‑sensitive matters.
• Has effective problem‑solving skills.
• Can manage and prioritize multiple projects.

The salary range for this position is $160,000–$220,000. The range takes into account skills, experience, licensure, certificates and other business needs. Compensation decisions are based on applicable facts and circumstances.
