SalaryBase pay range: $81,000.00/yr - $/yr
DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Executive Underwriter to underwrite middle market technology accounts focused on Property & Casualty and Technology Errors & Omissions (Tech E&O). This role combines autonomous underwriting authority with commercial development: you will manage a portfolio of brokers and clients, underwrite complex/mid-to-large risk technology accounts, price risk analytically, and shape product and go-to-market strategy for the technology vertical.
Responsibilities- Risk Selection:
Review, rate, underwrite, and assess the business applying for insurance by qualifying accounts, identifying and selecting risks, determining the premium, policy terms and conditions, obtaining approvals, presenting proposals to agents/brokers, and negotiating deals. - Agent/Broker Relationships:
Demonstrate high responsiveness and focus on supporting Agents and Brokers objectives. Establish, develop, and maintain successful relationships to facilitate product marketing through responsive service, site visits, renewal meetings, and enhanced client knowledge. - Portfolio Management:
Manage a sizable and complex book of technology business by analyzing the portfolio, identifying growth, profit and diversification opportunities, and executing marketing plans to increase market share via broker outreach. - Documenting the Deal:
Maintain clear, organized files reflecting a solid thought process and decision making through comprehensive account reviews, sign-offs and referrals that comply with state regulations, letters of authority, and underwriting guidelines. - Leadership:
Guide, mentor, and coach underwriters and account analysts in both technical and professional skills. Provide regular updates and share expertise with other underwriters. - Continuous Improvement:
Actively participate in continuous improvement by generating suggestions, solving problems, and using improvement tools to support the team's work.
- Degree in Business or equivalent typically required.
- A minimum of 7 years, typically 10 or more, of progressive underwriting experience and/or related business experience.
- CPCU or professional insurance designation preferred.
- Proven analytical ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within scope of responsibility.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex analyses and information in understandable written and/or oral directives for underwriting or training purposes.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
- Comprehensive understanding of complex technical underwriting issues and capability to implement necessary processes/workflows.
- Proven track record of developing and underwriting profitable business.

The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role.
