Position SummaryThe Senior Data Engineer (SDE) designs and implements modern data platform solutions with deep expertise in Azure and data analytics technologies. This role partners closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver scalable, high-quality solutions that address complex business challenges.
The ideal candidate is passionate about building data-driven systems, enhancing end-user experience, and continuously learning emerging technologies and best practices. This individual is self-motivated, innovative, proactive, and thrives in dynamic environments. A strong team player with attention to quality and detail, the SDE remains current on industry trends, system updates, and advancements in cloud and analytics technologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Collaborate with project teams and internal stakeholders (business analysts, developers, architects, and others) to define requirements, design solutions, and deliver innovative results that exceed business expectations.
- Design, develop, and maintain modern data platform solutions to support reporting and analytics initiatives.
- Develop and maintain ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources into a centralized modern data platform.
- Implement systems and processes to monitor data quality, ensuring production data is accurate, reliable, and available to key stakeholders.
- Follow established methodologies, processes, and standards to ensure high-quality deliverables and contribute to overall team effectiveness.
- Meet with stakeholders to assess needs and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop comprehensive technical solutions that consider business requirements, infrastructure, scalability, security, data protection, and disaster recovery.
- Create and maintain relevant technical documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance deliverables and optimize solutions.
- Implement appropriate security measures to safeguard sensitive data and ensure compliance with applicable data privacy regulations.
- Stay current with industry developments, particularly in cloud technologies and data analytics.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Comply with all organizational policies and procedures.
- Maintain prompt, punctual, and regular attendance during core business hours in an office-based environment. Occasional local travel between office locations or project sites may be required.
- Adhere to workplace safety policies and procedures. Employees are empowered to stop work if unsafe conditions are identified and must notify a supervisor immediately.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to sit, stand, speak, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and office equipment.
- May occasionally be required to reach, stoop, or kneel.
- Requires close vision due to extended computer work.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent professional experience (minimum 5 years).
- Minimum 2 years of experience advising on, managing, and successfully delivering technical solutions.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with Power BI (including Power Query, Data Management Gateway, SSAS Tabular Connector).
- 3+ years of experience working as a Data Engineer in data integration, data modeling, analytics, reporting, and/or Azure or AWS cloud environments.
- 2+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server (SQL, T-SQL stored procedures and functions) or Postgre
SQL (Postgre
SQL and PL/pgSQL). - 2+ years of experience managing and delivering enterprise data solutions.
- Experience in at least one of the following data modeling areas:
- Enterprise Data Warehousing (e.g., star schema design)
- Master Data Services and Data Quality Services
- Custom data integrations
- Data migrations
- Data governance
- Internet of Things (IoT)
- Knowledge of and experience with at least one of the following technology stacks:
- Microsoft Fabric
