Position: Site Reliability Developer 4

Job Description

We are seeking an SRE with strong software development skills, solid SRE fundamentals, and the ability to apply and evangelize AI/GenAI practices to improve reliability, operational efficiency, and developer productivity for Asset Hub services running in regulated/Gov environments. This role builds production‑grade engineering solutions (automation, tooling, reliability features) and helps teams adopt AI safely and effectively.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Build software to improve reliability: design and implement tools, services, operators/controllers, and automation to reduce incidents and manual operations.

  • Operational excellence: define and improve SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, alerting, incident response, postmortems, and follow‑up remediation.

  • Kubernetes cloud operations: support and harden workloads on Kubernetes (deployments, scaling, capacity, rollouts, networking).

  • CI/CD and release engineering: improve build/deploy pipelines, release safety (progressive delivery, rollbacks), and environment promotion strategies.

  • Security and compliance by design: implement secure defaults (RBAC, secrets handling, image scanning/signing as applicable), runtime hardening, and audit‑ready operational practices—especially for Gov/regulated realms.

  • Observability engineering: build/maintain logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, and actionable alerting.

  • Reliability‑driven software changes: partner with developers to implement resilience patterns (timeouts, retries, circuit breakers, idempotency) and performance improvements.

  • AI for SRE / AIOps enablement: identify and implement AI‑assisted workflows (e.g., incident summarization, log/trace analysis assistance, alert triage support, runbook automation), ensuring security/privacy compliance.

  • AI evangelism: run internal enablement sessions (demos, brown bags, docs), share best practices/prompt patterns, and help teams adopt approved AI tools responsibly to reduce toil and improve quality.

Required Qualifications
  • Strong software development experience in one or more languages (e.g., Java, Go, Python) with ability to deliver production‑quality code (testing, design docs, code reviews).

  • Hands‑on SRE/production experience: on‑call participation, incident management, root cause analysis, and driving corrective actions.

  • Experience operating services on Kubernetes (debugging, deployments, config, scaling, resource management).

  • Solid Linux fundamentals; networking basics (DNS, TLS, load balancing); understanding of distributed systems failure modes.

  • Experience with CI/CD systems and Infrastructure‑as‑Code (e.g., Terraform or equivalent).

  • AI/GenAI fluency: ability to apply AI tools to engineering workflows and explain value, limitations, and risks clearly to others.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting services in regulated/Gov environments (change control, auditability, security constraints).

  • Kubernetes security experience: RBAC, network policies, admission controls/policy‑as‑code, secrets management, image security.

  • Observability stack experience and building high‑signal dashboards (metrics/tracing/logging).

  • Experience with AIOps patterns (noise reduction, correlation, anomaly detection) and/or integrating AI into operational tool chains.

  • Strong written communication and enablement skills (docs, training, internal community building).

What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)
  • Establish or improve core SLIs/SLOs and operational dashboards for Asset Hub services.

  • Deliver 1–2 high‑impact automation/software changes that reduce toil or prevent a class of incidents.

  • Launch at least one AI enablement initiative (demo documented playbook) that measurably improves an operational workflow (e.g., faster triage, improved incident comms), aligned with internal security/compliance guidelines.
