Description
The Leidos Digital Modernization Sector invites applications for an exciting opportunity as an Expert Azure Cloud Engineer. We are seeking a talented individual with extensive experience in networking and infrastructure automation. Join us in our mission to support the US Space Force's Space Systems Command (SSC) to develop and deploy vital software solutions for space defense and data services. This is a hands‑on engineering role that requires a self‑sufficient, execution‑focused candidate who excels in collaborative environments.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain Azure infrastructure components such as compute, storage, networking, identity, and governance through Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Architect and configure essential Azure networking resources including virtual networks (VNets), network security groups (NSGs), Express Route, VPN gateways, private endpoints, and load balancers.
- Integrate and optimize the connectivity between on-premises and Azure environments, ensuring high performance, redundancy, and security compliance.
- Implement and manage configurations for Azure Firewall, Application Gateway, and Azure Front Door to ensure secure and resilient application delivery.
- Automate provisioning and configuration processes using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates with CI/CD integration via Git Hub Actions, Azure Dev Ops, or Git Lab.
- Collaborate with application and security teams to enforce principles of zero trust and network segmentation.
- Troubleshoot and enhance DNS, routing, latency, and firewall rules across hybrid environments.
- Support monitoring, alerting, and performance optimization efforts using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Network Watcher.
- Ensure compliance with DoD/NIST, FedRAMP, or relevant security frameworks.
- Design, deploy, and manage virtual server infrastructures across hybrid environments.
- Maintain and optimize virtualization platforms, including VMware ESXi and Hyper‑V.
- Utilize Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools like Terraform and Ansible for automation of deployments and configurations.
- Work with cross‑functional teams to provision, maintain, and scale cloud resources on platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Monitor cloud resource utilization to ensure efficiency and scalability.
- Troubleshoot issues and conduct root cause analysis for system and application‑related problems.
- Operate within a DEVSECOPS framework to uphold security, compliance, and operational standards.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and integrate infrastructure automation into development cycles.
- Implement containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes for microservices architecture support.
- Configure and sustain monitoring tools to guarantee the availability and performance of systems and applications.
- BS in computer science, software engineering, or related field and 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience. Additional experience may substitute for formal education.
- US Citizenship and possession of an active DoD TS/SCI Clearance.
- At least 10 years of experience in Azure Cloud Engineering or Cloud Infrastructure roles.
- Proven expertise in Azure networking technologies.
- Proficiency in Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP and BGP.
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline implementations for infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Azure security and identity services.
- Experience with integration of SASE, ZScaler, or Palo Alto networks.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes networking or containerized deployments.
- Understanding of key security frameworks.
- Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills in complex environments.
- Strong documentation and collaboration abilities.
- Possession of relevant Azure certifications.
- Master's degree in computer science.
- Possession of additional Azure or VMware certifications.
