As Director of User Experience, you’ll lead the charge in crafting exceptional customer experiences that directly drive Matillion’s business goals. You’ll grow and inspire a talented UX team, setting the standard for design excellence across the company.

Matillion is tackling long-standing challenges in data integration, empowering business users to access and leverage data more effectively. Our sales cycles are complex, with varied use cases that bring both challenges and opportunities — so you’ll need to thrive in an environment where your insights directly influence solutions.

You’ll collaborate closely across teams to define metrics, generate customer insights, and shape processes and culture that keep the customer at the heart of every decision. This is a chance to make a real impact on the product, the company, and the way businesses interact with data.

• Drive the definition and communication of the design vision and strategy across Matillion's product suite in collaboration with Product Directors, Managers, and Designers.
• Lead cross-collaborative workshops to ensure broad adoption of the UX vision and alignment with commercial goals.
• Provide high-level direction, influencing product roadmaps to coordinate design activities across teams for impactful results.
• Own the communication of progress updates and design decisions to the broader business and executive team.

• Initiate and lead research initiatives, conducting UX market analysis to uncover and validate strategic design opportunities.
• Stay informed on industry trends to inform and guide strategic design decisions.
• Develop and evolve the design vision and strategy for the dedicated product range, ensuring alignment with business goals.
• Define and maintain standards for UX consistency across platforms and products.
• Contribute to an evolving design system for pixel-perfect delivery and seamless hand-off to engineers.
• Drive cross-team activities to progressively elevate the experience practice at Matillion.

• Provide clear direction, task requirements, and feedback to guide and empower designers within the team.
• Take charge of design activities, overseeing sprints, workshops, and story mapping to ensure efficient and collaborative processes.
• Champion a lean-design approach within innovation work-streams, cultivating a culture that values efficiency and encourages innovative thinking.
• Mentor and actively support the professional growth of Designers by providing coaching, guidance, and opportunities for skill development.

• Extensive background in designing software products in a SaaS B2B environment.
• Previous experience designing AI products would be a plus.
• Proven leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.
• Ability to cultivate positivity, excitement, and inclusivity within the team.
• Excellent communication skills at all stakeholder levels.
• Strong persuasion and influencing skills to foster collaboration.
• Self-organized with the ability to plan own work and team tasks in line with department priorities.
• Proficient in user research techniques: mental models, persona creation, and JTBD framework.
• Demonstrated expertise in ideation, sketching, wire framing, user flows, information architecture, and visual/UI design.
• Fluent in modern visual design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Lovable, etc.
