Position Overview
The Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center is a 4‑Star Full Service 451‑room Hotel with 30,000 sq ft of conference space, located in the Hampden South neighborhood near I‑25 and 225 in the tech center.
We are recruiting a Banquet Captain for flexible work hours – $18.50‑$20.00 hourly + tips. Day, night, weekend and holiday shifts available.
This position requires the candidate to supervise banquet staff during set‑up, service and breakdown, ensuring safe and efficient, accident‑free operations.
Responsibilities- Check server and horse person BEOs to ensure accurate information.
- Verify room set‑up matches BEO directions; keep public areas neat and clean.
- Make contact with group representatives and explain communication procedures.
- Communicate BEO changes to the catering office and affected departments.
- Coordinate staff set‑ups, changes, and time schedules for all functions.
- Verify scheduling for the next day’s functions, adjusting staff as needed.
- Operate as a banquet server when required – set‑up, greeting, serving, breakdown.
- Inspect banquet areas post‑event to ensure equipment is returned and areas are clean.
- Obtain client signatures on banquet checks, recap at day’s end, and hand over to Night Audit.
- Coach and counsel associates to improve performance; administer corrective or disciplinary actions as necessary.
- Know the menu for each function and be able to explain major ingredients and preparation methods.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Follow safety and security procedures and rules; know fire prevention and emergency procedures.
- Use protective equipment and report unsafe conditions or incidents to supervisor.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and well‑groomed appearance per team member handbook.
- Perform related duties as requested by supervisor; assist other banquet personnel when needed.
- Two years of hotel banquet food/beverage service experience.
- Hold a current Food Handler Card (or be willing to obtain at our cost).
- Ability to process paperwork.
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
- Knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware; familiarity with various equipment and setup styles in meeting rooms.
- Ability to understand verbal English for job requests from supervisors and guests.
Ability to transport up to 30 lbs continuously throughout the shift; lift up to 30 lbs; move or push goods on a hand cart/truck weighing up to 100 lbs. Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing, and smiling.
