Validation Specialist Onsite - Palo Alto

Overview

Varian Medical Systems, a Siemens Healthineers company, is hiring an on‑site Validation Specialist in Palo Alto, California. The role focuses on ensuring that oncology products are safe, effective, and meet user expectations through rigorous validation and continuous improvement.

• Confirm that validation is complete and that Varian’s products are safe, effective, and meet intended use requirements with objective test evidence before release.
• Discuss clinical practices, treatment techniques and process optimizations with Product Management, User Experience, and Design Engineering to define new product requirements.
• Provide ongoing feedback and implement improvements across design, development, and modification of radiation and oncology products and systems.
• Support development and maintenance of Varian products including Oncology Information Systems, Treatment Planning Management Systems, and Treatment Delivery & Imaging Systems.
• Define and execute strategy for design validation of new products to demonstrate compliance with design and intended use requirements.
• Participate in requirements analysis, use‑case development, and risk hazard analysis.
• Develop and write test designs and procedures, establishing traceability to requirements and risk mitigations.
• Collaborate with Product Verification Engineers, Product Marketing, User Experience, and Project Management to resolve usability, requirements, software, and scope issues.
• Travel globally (5–25%) as part of a worldwide development team.

• Education and experience:
  
  either
  • Current clinical certification/registration as a Radiation Therapist with five (5) years of Radiation Oncology clinical experience.
  • Degree (B.A., B.S., or equivalent) plus five (5) years of Radiation Oncology clinical experience as a Radiation Therapist and/or Clinical Applications Specialist using Varian products.
• Thorough understanding of simulation, imaging, and treatment delivery clinical workflows, including proficiency with:
  • Treatment delivery using various techniques such as IMRT and VMAT.
  • Performing stereotactic radio surgeries for brain (SRS) and lung (SBRT) treatments.
• Knowledge of radiation safety practices and safe handling of ionizing radiation equipment.

• Current radiation therapist certification with experience as a Medical Dosimetrist.
• Proficient use of Varian products such as ARIA Radiation Therapy Management, and linear accelerators (C‑Series, True Beam, and/or Halcyon).
• Experience with motion management technologies including Varian RPM, RGSC, or optical surface tracking (e.g., IDENTIFY).
• Basic knowledge of ARIA Oncology Information System and Eclipse Treatment Planning System.

Base pay range: $139,180 – $191,378 (geography, experience, and qualifications considered). Commission eligibility applies per company plans where applicable.
