Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team working both on the road and in accounts collecting specimens. The ideal candidate will be responsible for collecting, processing, and packaging laboratory samples while ensuring a positive experience for both patients and clinic staff.
Job Responsibilities- Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, blood samples, pathology and cytology specimens.
- Travel throughout Denver Metro, CO Springs, and Northern Colorado area to obtain patient samples.
- Research test/client information and confirm written and electronic orders using lab technology systems or the directory of services.
- Enter data accurately, including patient registration and test orders from requisition.
- Enter billing information.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
- Use iLabs for assigned accounts daily to ensure accurate billing data.
- Report required CIR and PPE resolution to Manager or Supervisor as scheduled.
- Perform clerical duties such as data entry, inventory, stock supplies, and answering phones when needed.
- Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
- Verify patient demographic information, initials, and patient signature post-venipuncture to confirm proper labeling.
- Assist with compilation and submission of monthly statistics and data.
- Maintain phlebotomy logs, including maintenance and temperature logs, in a timely manner.
- Complete training courses and stay current with phlebotomy techniques.
- Attend Supervisor or Manager meetings as required.
- Participate in special projects and teams.
- Stay up to date on company communications.
- Ability to provide quality, error‑free work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric.
- Flexible and available for staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on‑call, and overtime.
- Commitment to all policies and procedures, including dress code, health and safety standards.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (if applicable).
- Superior customer focus and transparent communication with peers, supervisors, and patients.
- Lifting 1–15 lbs frequently, 16–25 lbs occasionally, 26–40 lbs seldomly; not to lift >41 lbs without assistance.
- Sit or stand for extended periods; requires eye and hand coordination.
- Perform repetitive tasks with the dominant hand frequently throughout the day.
- Position requires travel.
- Extensive use of phone and PC.
- Fine dexterity and steadiness with hands.
- Bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, and twisting as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical Assistant Certification.
- Phlebotomy certification.
- One year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Customer service experience in retail or service environment preferred.
- Keyboard/data entry experience.
