Description Of Job

This full‑time position is responsible for producing high quality diagnostic radiographs for offenders housed at the Denver Complex. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Evaluates radiological orders to determine positioning, test procedure needed and protective measures necessary for diagnostic testing;
  • Operates X‑ray machines, fixed and portable, according to established guidelines;
  • Produces high quality radiographs that will assist medical personnel in diagnosing disease processes;
  • Evaluates finished product and equipment according to quality control standards;
  • Schedules radiological testing necessary to meet the needs of offenders and/or tests required;
  • Monitors system for logging all diagnostic tests performed according to offender name, number, location and test;
  • Prepares digital images for review by radiologist to include preparation of electronic information;
  • Scans dictation into electronic health record;
  • Cleans radiology equipment and provides a sanitary environment for each exam;
  • Completes all related paperwork, bookkeeping and requisitions accurately and in a timely manner;
  • Obtains and logs necessary quality control measures;
  • Travels to other facilities within the state as requested;
  • Attends training programs as assigned including a one‑day self‑defense refresher course.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Applicant must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) as a Radiologic Technologist in Radiography. Please attach a copy of your ARRT credentials.
  • Applicant must possess an associate’s degree from an accredited institution in Radiologic Technology or other closely related field. Attach a copy of transcripts that contain the name of the accredited institution, type of degree received, date the degree was awarded and your name.
  • Applicant must have one year of professional experience as a Radiology Technologist.

Substitutions

  • Clinical experience in the medical field will substitute for the degree requirement on a year‑for‑year basis, however the ARRT certification is still required.

  • Ability to provide direct patient care to offenders in a correctional setting;
  • Must be able to operate radiological equipment and perform all radiological examinations;
  • Ability to read and comprehend the English language;
  • Ability to effectively communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing;
