Overview

Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, Colorado's largest and most comprehensive provider of cancer care, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Patient Service Coordinator in Denver (Rose Medical Center Campus). Salary Range: $18.29-$24.00. Pay is based on several factors including education, work experience, certification, and more. Responsibilities
  • Schedules new patients and return appointments in the computer system in accordance with physician and/or office guidelines; cancels/reschedules appointments according to physician schedule changes and notifies appropriate clinic personnel.
  • Obtains and enters all authorization and correspondence relating to referrals in patient charts and computer.
  • Schedules outpatient appointments/testing and hospital admissions upon request.
  • Obtains necessary pre‑certification as required; handles new patient referrals, gathers necessary information, assigns the patient account number, and schedules appointment.
  • Collects co‑pays, deductible, and other out‑of‑pocket amounts at time of visit, and maintains primary office scheduling book containing all physician meetings, satellite schedule, rounding, and call coverage.
  • Handles incoming phone calls from patients needing to schedule or reschedule appointments.
  • Provides patients with accurate and legible appointment cards; documents no‑shows in patient’s chart for missed visits; follows up with patients to reschedule missed appointments and arranges for financial counseling as needed.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/corporation.
  • Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the front office.
  • Covers for other front office functions as requested.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Position requires at least three years of office experience, medical office experience preferred. Excellent communication skills—written and verbal—are essential. Proficiency with computer systems is required;
Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel are a plus.

Physical Demands

Work may involve sitting for long periods, stooping, bending, and stretching for files and supplies. Employees must be present during regularly scheduled business hours and may be required to sit or stand, talk, or hear. The job requires manual and finger dexterity and eye‑hand coordination for computer work. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range for telephone contacts are required.

Work

Environment

The work environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment. Work will involve in‑person interaction with co‑workers, management, and/or clients. Minimal travel by automobile to office sites may be required.

All qualified candidates must pass a background check and a non‑federal drug test (which excludes marijuana) post office of employment and prior to hire. Candidates must provide proof of vaccination against influenza upon commencement of employment.
