Job Summary:

Provides nursing care and services to patients/families under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or provider. Care is limited to activities that may be provided by unlicensed assistive personnel with demonstrated and documented competencies that do not require licensure.

Essential Responsibilities:

* Contributes to ongoing patient data collection and documentation; identifies changes in patient status and reports changes to RN/Provider; implements patient care under the direction of the registered nurse or provider.

* Demonstrates knowledge and ability to apply the nursing process.

* Performs nursing tasks as delegated by a registered nurse or provider that does not require licensure.

* Demonstrates technical competence in basic nursing skills and use of basic patient care equipment.

* Records data and nursing care activities in the medical record consistent with department and regulatory standards.

* Supports nursing care by providing related services such as clerical support and patient transportation.

* Demonstrates knowledge of and application of infection control principles and standards, including patient, environment, and employee situations.

* Reports incidents, work-related injuries, unsafe equipment or environment to management or other appropriate staff.

* Participates as directed during emergency situations.

* Performs administrative and other duties and accepts responsibility as assigned.
