Job Description
The Radiation Therapist is responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for therapeutic purposes in accordance with the prescription of the Radiation Oncologist and is accountable for the simulation of patients in preparation of radiation therapy, basic patient care and education.

Key Responsibilities- Check prescription, diagnosis, chart and patient identification; explain procedures to patients and reinforce instructions regarding reactions to treatment and their care.
- Prepare room and equipment for the patient per prescription, including immobilization devices, blocks, field sizes, etc.; transfer patients as needed.
- Verify the treatment machine and beam energy in the treatment chart, noting any prescribed adjustments; document cumulative dose, site‑specific doses, parameters, instructions, diagrams, images, and billing information.
- Perform treatment simulation and associated procedures (including cerrobend block fabrication); develop X‑rays and port films as needed and file accordingly; observe and inquire of patients any unusual reactions or events.
- Assist in maintaining order and cleanliness of the unit; maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Complete daily, progress, and discharge documentation according to departmental standards; accurately document productivity information.
- Graduation from an accredited radiation therapy program.
- ARRT and RT(T) certifications in radiation therapy and current license in state of practice (if applicable).
- Current BLS certification.

CompensationHourly rate: $46.91 – $72.39 (dependent upon experience).
