Job Description

The CV Invasive Specialist performs duties necessary for cardiac catheterization procedures at a technical and professional level requiring some proctoring and supervision of technical detail. The Specialist performs a variety of technical procedures that require some independent judgment. The CV Invasive Specialist assumes responsibility and initiative for designated areas and procedures as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides technical support during invasive cardiovascular procedures. Provides patient care under the supervision of the RN.
  • Assists physicians in radiological imaging of cardiac and vascular procedures, acts as scrub assistant, maintaining sterile conditions during clinical procedures. Operates imaging equipment and works in the control room monitoring and documenting procedure images and events.
  • Educates patients and families regarding the procedure and about the expectations of the procedure. Teaches patient and family about pre and post procedure physical conditions.
  • Assists in maintaining order and cleanliness of the unit. Maintains appropriate stock levels for complex interventions and diagnostic procedures.
  • Completes daily, progress and discharge documentation according to departmental standards. Accurately documents productivity information.
Minimum Qualifications Invasive Cardiovascular Technician
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Registered ARRT or RCIS or RCES or Registered Respiratory Therapist with CV Specific certification or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist RCIS within 18 months of hire.
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP).
  • ACLS and Surgical Technologist License with DORA obtained within 3 months of hire in state of Colorado.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates degree.
  • Two (2) years of experience in Cardiology/Cath Lab.
Minimum Qualifications Invasive Cardiovascular Technician II
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Certification.
  • Registered ARRT or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist RCIS or Registered Respiratory Therapist with CV specific certification or RCES.
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) and ACLS.
  • Surgical Technologist License must be obtained within 3 months from hire date in the State of Colorado.
  • Four (4) years of experience in Cardiology/Cath Lab.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in Cardiology/Cath Lab.
Physical/Skill Requirements

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
